Default MAF Problems!

I had purchased a ThrottleMax performance chip to wire into my MAF sensor wiring. My friend said that he could install it for me while i was at work, so i let him. Come to find out that the car has rejected the performance box and will not go over 3k RPM. Im sure my mpg has gone down but i dont know what to do from here. I had removed the throttlemax hoping the original wiring would restore it to normal, but its still not running over 3k RPM. What should i do? One guy had told me i might have too much air running through the sensor, but this problem had not come about until after the performance box was installed. I need my car running normal again! Please help!

try disconnecting the battery for a minute or so once you take the box off, let the ecu reset itself. most chips out there wont work the xD, our ecu is pretty tight from what i've read

This is one step that i had forgotten to do, but i just had disconnected the battery for about 10 minutes and the problem is still there. It can rev up to 4k RPMs now, but i still can not redline it at all. It won't go above 4k RPMs... ugh

only other thing i can think of is trying to flash the ecu or take it to the dealer if it's still under warranty and have them flash it
