Scion xd engine ligth
Hello,
I wanted to find out if any one knows the codes and or seriousness when the "check engine," light appears. I have a 2009 scion xd. I took the car to the dealer and he said there were 11 codes that come up. He cleared it and said maybe it was nothing, but if it came back on I should bring it back. I did replace the gas cap and the engine light has come back on. I just wanted to know if anyone knows the 11 codes. I will probably take it to the dealer and spend the $100 for the technician to use the ultra decoder, but wanted some feedback on the seriousness of my current situation.
Thank you, in advance!!!

w/o knowing the codes I'd guess by the number of them that it is emission related. Your vapor canister is prob ful of water.
You can buy your own code reader for $20. Save your money for the parts it will need if you need to meet emission standards for something, if not, ignore the codes.

If you don't want to pay the dealer $100 diagnostic fee, I suggest you go autozone, advance auto parts, or pepboys. There are other local auto parts stores that can help you figure out the codes. Write the codes down on a piece of paper and look them up here:

This should point you in the right direction. Good luck.
