Thumbs down Scion xD - Won't Start

Hey guys,

I drive a 2009 Scion xD with roughly 109k miles.

I was driving my car last weekend for probably 45 minutes with 2 stops in between. At the 3rd stop I turned the car off, but when I went to leave just a minute later it wouldn't start. No engine turnover, no noise. Just the lights on the dash came on
and the usually beeping when you switch the key over twice. I replaced the battery, terminals are fine without corrosion, and I don't see any damage to the cables leading to the battery. Next I got the starter changed. The fuses have been checked and are fine.
After changing both the starter and battery it still won't start. I got a starter relay ordered and will be putting it in this afternoon. I drive a manual so I can bump start it to get it running and it doesn't turn off while I'm driving or have it sitting and running.
Doubt it's the ignition switch because it does start when forced, and it doesn't have the classic alternator symptoms.

Has anyone encountered this issue, or think they know what could be the problem?

Thanks! ;)

Default Clutch petal engage..

Did you play with clutch pedal while trying to start it?

My 08 xD has a very picky spot I have to depress the pedal or nothing happens.

Did you find the problem?

I'm having the same problem with my 09 xD. Mine's automatic but conditions are identical. No Crank. The only things I hear are the fuel pump and a weird humming noise coming from the throttle body. New starter, new relay, all fuses checked out.
Did a continuity test on the neutral safety switch and it passed. No power at the starter actuator (purple) wire at the starter. Not sure if its the ignition switch, everything works.

You can take shotgun approach by replacing every component of starting system like OP tried. Just needed to add to list:

- battery cables
- fusebox and fusible links
- ignition switch
- starter relay

Somewhere along way, faulty component or loose wiring will be fixed.

Default Problem fixed

Just coming across this thread again. After all the workarounds trying to find the issue, it was the rubber floor mat getting pushed too close to the clutch pedal . Hopefully this helps someone else lol
