and to think I just put a extender on my shifter in order to not have to bend forward to reach all the gears. longer throw to match that long clutch now. but a part I want nonetheless.

I believe it moves them slightly as well. I held plate each to each other and noted that the alignment and placement were different. Also, the original part which you remove is heavy pig-iron - certainly a cheap piece - very rough texture. The replacement plate is a lightweight piece of polished aluminum.

As I have said previously, the difference in feel is significant.

NST should be able to fabricate this piece - right? For the same price - right?

It makes a significant difference.

I wonder why Toyota added this part to the kit - I suspect that they were noticing housing wear and cable failures. The price stayed the same, but the product was significantly improved.

I'd like to see what NST does - they are the BEST right?

Hahahaha!

Yes, it straightens out the cables, and I think that is what gives the shifter a better feel, plus the TRD guide is aluminum and weighs much less than the Scion factory guide so you can save a pound or so of weight.

With TRD redesigning this with the guide makes me a bit nervouse about the NST. I have had mine on for a few months now but may consider pulling it and buying the TRD.

They know about the issue but have been completely silent.

The guide can't be that difficult of a piece to manufacture nor that costly. I like to support the 'Little Guys' but I worry about the effect it will have on my vehicle first. I hope NST is looking at this because I hate to dump another $150 into the TRD.

Its $115 on TRDSparks. I hope NST does make a guide for theirs. I want to get all of NSTs shifter parts for mine.

the shift kit for $115 at TRDSparks does NOT have the alignment plate, nor does it include the TRD shift **** as shown on other websites, including TRD's own site.

btw, before you purchase parts from TRDSparks or any other online store, call your local dealerships for prices, they can vary greatly, and can be cheaper (and in stock) than purchasing online with shipping charges.

hmmm, I purchased mine from TRDSparks and it came with the guide - as you can see by the photos I supplied. The price was 115. a bit steep for what you get, but it makes the shifting much more pleasurable. I purchased the TRD leather shift **** separately from TRD sparks.

Hi Andrew,

For the $115 it is the shifter only, no ****, and it does not come with an alignment plate. We chose to sell it by itself instead of going with the higher price and a **** that not everyone might want. We do offer several ***** on our site that you might like. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Ken

Is there a separate part number for the plate?

That is absolutely right pickle-lover. You bought the bargain part. It's unlikely that you'll get the additional parts for less than what you would have paid for the quality product

You have been posting for some time that the cheaper product was equal or better. I'd like to see you back that up. Seriously, prove that your bargain NST part is better than the TRD Toyota parts!

haha man...call out for sure, but he does bring up a good point. I was, admittedly, going to go with NST, because it was cheaper and, seemingly, the same. i had no clue about the extra cable plate, but now im thankful for this thread, it opened my eyes o-o
