09 RS2 AVIC-F7010BT Bypass
Hey everyone,
I've been reading the various ways of bypassing the parking brake 'safety' features on the F series Pioneer navi system over at avic411 but it seems the wiring is different for the F7010BT installed in the RS2 xD's than if you were to buy a regular F series for any other car.
Here is an image of what the wires should look like, from page 9 of the thread over at avic411 and here is a picture of what the harness wires look like in my xD.
I'm wondering if anyone else has ran into this, and if anyone knows which wires need to be grounded to make the bypass work in the xD's.

i just hooked up a simple ground wire to a switch and put it the switch console on the left side of my tc works fine you just have to switch it on/off everytime you turn on the car, if your interested i will walk you though not hard at all
If I could figure out which one of the wires on the harness I need to be grounding, I should be ok. None of the wires coming out of the black harness are marked, and I have not been able to track down a wiring diagram for the f7010BT. Unfortunately the harness in my xD seems to be just slightly different enough from the regular harnesses for the F series that the bypass described in the avic411 forum doesn't work.
no I have the avh p4000 but it would be same wiring its that bright green one that says "parking brake" just splice it in to a rocker switch and switch away i thought it was gona be hard too but it took like 5 min. All it needs to sense is that the brake is on or in other words grounded and you would be simulating that by having the rocker switch move up and down "brake on and off" you get me? you should have a panel by your mirror switch where you adjust them just add the switch in there i got mine at autozone for like 6 bucks, just dont screw everything down until you see that its working properly. you can trouble shoot by just adding the rocker switch to that green wire and have the whole switch in your hand and work on it till you can see navi!
Did you check out those pictures I attached? I'm wondering if the harness I have looks like what you are describing...
I did ground the single green wire (third from the left) to the car's frame, but that did not work. Also, none of the wires are labeled, otherwise this would be much easier

nope grounding it wont work like that, you have to be able to rock it back and forth. try this turn on your head unit and remove the ground then ground it again, tv has to sense that or it wont work thats why i wrote you have to rock the switch every time you turn the vehicle on it cant stay grounded
You should be able to just move the mute wire, like stated on the avic411 threads, then just ground it out.
the bypass is the same for every f series i believe. Just that you have one plug for your radio, while the TC has 2. That is the only difference.
Give it a go, and see what happens. Otherwise like viciouscircle stated, just run the parking brake wire to a toggle switch, then ground the other side of it. Then when you want to use it, just flick it back and forth.
The mute wire trick should work though.

In the 2 pictures I posted, the light green parking brake wire on the Pioneer harness is physically connecting to the same pin as the Red/white wire on the harness in my xD.
So I called Pioneer and (carefully) worded my situation just to see what they'd say. The guy sounded surprised that the harness wires were colored differently than normal, but confirmed that the pinout on the actual navi would still have to be the same, regardless of being factory installed by Scion, which is logical.
I am really curious now to know if anyone else with a Scion factory installed F7010BT has the Pioneer harness or the same harness as me.
Once I get off work, I will try grounding the Red/white wire and will post my findings.

Sorry for the late post, I've spent most of my evening tearing apart the xD and putting it all back together :D
My suspicion was correct, the harness in my xD does use the Red/white wire as the parking brake.
There is another gotcha too: If you simply ground this wire as it sits, the vehicle then thinks the parking brake is on and beeps and flashes constantly. I had to snip the Red/white wire so it no longer tied in with the parking brake wire the car sensors use, and only ground the one from the stereo, which is simple enough but I found easy to overlook.
I attached another picture for the visual leaners like myself
