alpine premium unit question on 2010 xD.
is there a simple way to unlock the navigation part of the unit? someone told me it's a simple "chip" or "card" that plugs into the back of the radio. any ideas?
thanks.
thanks.
I was under the impression you had to buy an external plug-in like the one here. I could be wrong though. I thought about getting one of these for awhile since I just bought and installed the alpine unit. However, with portable gps unit (garmin, magellan, tom-tom etc...) prices falling rather rapidly along with cheaper database updates, I just couldn't justify it. I may cave sometime though. It would be nice to just have everything neatly integrated instead of having to haul out and suction cup your unit to the windshield (all while stopped of course.....) to find out where your gf swore she knew how to get to in the first place.
I paid extra for the Alpine with GPS but the dealship screwed up and installed the regular unit with the NAV button but no GPS modual.
They had to order and install a completly new unit. After about 2 weeks of use I think its pretty nice but have tortured myself by researching and have now found better after market units for less than the $1200 option price I paid.
