Default Amp cuts out when volume is turned up

I recently installed the T1809, an Alpine MRP-M200 amp, and a 10" Rockford Fosgate Sub. Unfortunately the amp cuts out when my head unit gets up above 50 and this is with the gain all the way down on the amp and the head unit sub woofer level around -10. I believe it to be the draw of electricity the amp is requesting. I was going to to the big 3 upgrade on the battery and alternator wires to remedy the issue, but I want to make sure that this will fix it before I go buying a bunch of wire.

I planned on getting 100' of 4 gauge Raptor wire from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Anyone got some advice on this???

i dont see how a 200 watt amp could possibly be drawing that much power, i used to run that same amp on an oldschool planet audio zetar z-10 on 8AWG wire back when i was fresh into car audio, and never had power draw issues like that, check any bass boost ***** on the amp and make sure they arent turned up, and check your terminations on both ends, secure ground, etc. almost sounds like clipping amp to me but im no expert

i mean i dont even have problems pulling 1500 watts on 4AWG wire on stock batt and alternator with my current setup in the xD

i run the 220 model w? 2 10" MTX. never had that problem even running 8g wire. sounds like a bad amp or too small a wire.

I did splice the remote amp wire into the red power wire on the head unit. Also my main power wire is pretty faded at the battery connection terminal. I'll check the voltage and replace the main power wire first before doing anything else...

My amp and speaker is from 2003 and its been collecting dust for about 2 years.

Thanks for the heads up...

youre remote wire is pulling high voltage? this could be your problem, you shoudl tap it into the accesory wire instead. youre remote wire is low voltage and can turn your amp on with less than an amp of draw, if your sending that much power into your remote you may be damaging things

accessory/antenna power wire,

this is normally blue on the radio harness side (but not always), and its grey on factory side of the harness for toyotas, so just find the grey wire on the factory side of the harness follow it over to the radio side, then tap the wire there (so you dont have any taps on the factory side)

acc from battery with switch, that way you can turn off with a switch and still leave radio on(cop switch)

or you can just quickly go into "menu" and change the subwoofer settings to "off"... that works fast, too.

if it's a scion radio, and has the sub outputs, it has that option.

and being on a scion forum, i would imagine most people who have a scion radio that has sub outputs from the radio have this option.

you say that, but would i rather spend 500$ on an optional premier radio or 2000$ on a nav unit or would i rather get a top of the line pioneer non nav for 450$ or a nav for 1000$

maybe thats just me, but the factory options are so overpriced for what they give.

unless the newer base model radios have sub outs.
