Push-Button Start
Hey guys,
I recently installed a push-button start on my Scion xD and I figured I would share!
It's a pretty neat system, did not install the smart entry at the moment...maybe when I get some free time...and figure out how to make it compatible with my Viper...

Thanks guys! It is pretty neat, now I just need to figure out how to get the smart entry to work with my Viper.
And yes, this was done on an automatic, but you can add a push start to a manual as well.
Here's the company I ordered it from:
http://www.advancedkeys.com/products.htm
I choose them because they use OEM Lexus buttons. Those buttons are standard size to the slot we already have so it is pretty flush. As for installation, it was kind of a biatch for me since I already installed the Viper 5902 system last year.
Since the Viper system already acts as a bypass to the engine ignition, I wired the push button to the ignition, and the brain of the push button to the Viper's brain so I didn't have to make a switch box for the key tumbler. This made the push button only active for 30 secs from the time the alarm system is deactivated. Once the 30 secs pass, the button will lose power and I will have to press the unlock button again on my remote to activate the push button start. I then unplug the key tumbler from the ignition so it will no longer be functional.
To bypass the wheel lock, I went to the locksmith and had them make me a short key that I fit into the tumbler and had it set to permanent acc. After that, I covered it up. The engine has been fitted with two starter kill systems, so not too concern about someone driving off with it.
That company does make a key cover kit, but I didn't want to still have to turn the key **** each time to unlock my steering wheel. That would beat the purpose of having a Push-Start system.
Overall, took me about 4 hours to get everything done once I figured out how to get the wiring done.

"With our stand-alone Push-Start system (AK-PSB05, without smart remote) it allow you to use an (-) AUX output from your viper which serves as an enable signal to the push-start system. (Change Jumper 2) So every time when you disarm/unlock your vehicle the push-start is enabled and disabled when you arm/lock the car through your viper. Our push-start system is also capable of take over ignition from remote start as well so you can continue to operate vehicle from remote start without restarting.
Also manuals are available in the "Details / Manuals" tab under AK-104B product page or direct link below,

I know this thread is pretty old, but after kind of playing around in my xD, i found that you can actually install a push start on a manual without having to press the clutch in. if you remove the little storage box that has the fuse box behind it, and look down towards the pedal, you will see a push button that the pedal will press in when you have the clutch in to start the car. if you can find a clamp or something to keep this button pressed in all the time, no more having to use the clutch
just though i'd share

I own a 2006 xB RS 4.0. I just ordered a new push button start. I want to do what you did and keep my key in the ignition and just cut it off basically to disable the SW lock. However, my car will automatically unlock the doors if I try to lock them with the key in the ignition. How can I stop this from happening?
