Default Quite Rear Speakers

I have the standard Pioneer radio on my '08 and notice there is very little volume coming out of the rear door speakers, even when I set fade all the way to the rear. There is some sound so I know they work. I would say they have 1/10th the volume of the front speakers. Is this just something common with xB or a defect?

It is a common thing with the OEM standard (and possibly premium) headunits. The rear speakers are hardly there.

The NAV system does not have the same problem according to some post I have seen.

Try setting your car stereo to "xB" or "xD"

It's on tC by default for some reason. To do this just hold down your "SSP" button for 4-5 seconds and use the volume **** on the HU to change between "tC" "xB" or "xD" car atmosphere. It's a cool but, wierd feature.

This should make a difference, as it did ALOT in mine but I don't think it completely solves the problem.

Hope this helps!

Tried this last night. I can hear very slight differences in the xB, xD and tC settings. Mine was on xB. I thought xD tended to be stronger midrange. Am now in tC mode which sounds a little fuller to me and the rear speakers seem a tad stronger.
Thanks for the tip Nick_Hollywood!

i replaced all 4 speakers a while back, one of the biggest problems is the rear spkrs are 5 1/4 instead of the fronts 6 1/2. because the rears are much smaller, there is more drown-out from the fronts, but the opening can be for 6 1/2. same goes for tC. i replace all 4 with 61/2 and sound great hope this helps!

if you want to rear to be louder then you need to turn Scion Sound Processing (SSP) off... Plus why would you want your sound to be coming from the back anyway? scion made it that way to give the image of the sound coming from the front of the car like if you were in a concert and stuff. if you don't like it that way then you would have to get an aftermarket head unit it doesn't have the SSP and will make the rear speakers louder.
