Default Radio glitch with iPhone 3GS?

So I recently upgraded to an iPhone 3GS and got myself a passPORT adaptor thingie so it will charge in the car. I have the basic stock headunit from Scion. The phone and the ipod setting on the radio work great together. I'm able to control the music from the steering wheel controls no problem (even while typing mid text to someone! Parked I swear! ).

My problem occurs when I have the phone plugged in to charge and I want to listen to the radio or the CD I have in the headunit. The radio refuses to switch out of any mode other than ipod when the phone is plugged in. Either using the mode button on the steering wheel or the source buttons directly on the radio itself.

Anyone else have this problem?

Did you have the iPhone 3G before that? I'm going to get one of these adapters, but now I guess I'll wait until this crap is solved......

Nope, my previous phone was a Pantech Duo. It had music capabilities but only 2 gigs of storage so I didnt use it for that very often.

Until we can get this figured out, I just use mine in the AUX jack, and just let it play on shuffle.

I figured it out. With the passPORT plugged in also, the connections between the wire and the phone arent as secure. So when I thought my phone was charging it wasnt. And the glitch occurs only when the wire is plugged into the ipod port in the car and the passPORT is on the other end of it with no phone or ipod in place.

I guess having just the passPORT plugged in and no phone or ipod confuses the car. The radio switches modes fine with no wire plugged or with the phone securely plugged into the passPORT. YAY!

hmm... my car won't go to ipod unless there is something on the end of the passport, i.e. my ipod.

You are right! It happens to me too. It's something Scosche should correct on their next versions of the passPORT adapter.

Well, im afraid you cant neither control your unit nor charge it through the AUX port. If this is the case, well then I'd suggest you try the ipod cable with the adapter.
