I know this has been posted before, but I think it needs to be a sticky thread.

It seems like none of the xD stereos are being set at the port/dealership properly. Mine, and many others, are factory set to "tC." If you set the stereo to "xD" mode, it will sound WAY better!

To change it:

1) Hold the SSP button while you turn the stereo on. You'll see the model that it is set to in the display.
2) If it is NOT set to xD (or whatever model you have), turn the volume **** until your model is displayed.
3) Press the SSP button again. It's set! You should notice an improvement in sound quality.

Hope this helps some of the people who complain about sound quality in the stock head units.[/i]

 

Ha, when I first went to the car lot to look at it, the guy showing me the xD thought it was the most amazing thing ever... I swear... he couldn't get over it!

Also... if your looking for a little better sound out of the factory stereo, in my opinion, if you turn both the bass and treble to 5, it sounds much better. Doing so, you may get some rattling, or vibrations.. just turn the bass down some!

 

the tC has a slightly more noticeable bass quality to it, i think thats why its set to tC so often. i prefer the bass of tC but find the melody to be weak (treble) so...i switched it over to xD haha
