I've got a 2009 Scion xD and I'm looking for a solution to upgrade the Head Unit to something a little prettier and with Bluetooth capabilities. I've been scouring the internet for a possible unit that might be plug and play without having to rewire or purchase a crazy harness.
I've been down the road with cars in the past swapping out the latest and greatest and having toe twist and solder wires and custom brackets and I'm just getting to old and jaded to want to do that again. so I'm looking for the least fuss possible.
Anyone know of any Head Units that might fit the bill?
When I replaced the HU in my tC 2 years ago I went with a Pioneer that supported the iDataLink Maestro RR connection. It was 99% PnP (except for the aftermarket wiring since I added a backup cam). It does add quite a bit of harnesses to but connects to all OEM connections. Steering wheel controls work and it ties into ODB2 (I added a splitter to keep the factory connection location free for emissions) to pull up engine codes and some other cool stuff. Very easy to use and very responsive. I picked it all up from Crutchfield which is great if you buy everything from them because they include everything you need and give you a bunch of discounts at the end. Only downside was I needed to run ActiveX controls (Internet Explorer) to program the DataLink device for my application. Most newer Toyota's are all the same so you should end up with a kit like this once all is said and done.
