Default xd with Alpine + navigation

Just bought 2010 XD. When I press the navi button I get a screen warning me to use it only when stopped. After "accepting" I get a screen saying that my maps are more than a year out of date. That's as far as I get. Do I have to pay for an update to get the navi to work? I have the black box under the seat.

Where it buy it from? Dealer take it to them and show them. Otherwise go to nearest Toyota/Scion dealer and tell them to give you update disc, but good luck getting it free.

if it doesn't do anything then the navigation option wasn't installed.

the alpine radio was a "Nav-ready" head unit, you had to get the navigation option at an additional cost on top of the alpine radio upgrade.

But if you have it as nav ready is thier anyway to hook the nav up to the 2011? I would just think its a simple install of software but am unsure.

its more than just a software thing, it is a nav module that you install and connect to the head unit as well as a gps antenna that you have to mount in the dash somewhere, depends on the car.
I have the 2010 alpine HU in my 2006 tC, i've looked for the nav module and i've only found them around double the cost of the head unit.
