Default 16" rims for the xD?

I took my xD test drive at the dealer. Love the car (I'm a current xB owner) and would be an easy sale, but the experience was totally discouraging - the salespeople really didn't know anything about the car and couldn't answer any accessories questions that weren't on the customer-facing web site. I wasn't testing them - the salesperson and sales manager would simply volunteer incorrect info about the car. The car is fairly new (just arrived in Brooklyn, NY) but I'd expect them to know at least as much as I do about it. I'm definitely not a 'car guy' and have limited car-buying experience, so maybe I'm expecting too much.

Anyway, the 2008 Scion parts catalog lists 16" allow rims that aren't on the web site. I want to buy them with the car so they're under Toyota's warranty. Is this a part that are actually accessible to dealers?

Thanks,
Tim

I just picked up my new xD yesterday and ordered the 16" alloys you see in the accessory brochure. They told me they should be in Tuesday this week. I noticed they weren't on the Scion site either, but they are the ones you see in the brochure. The part number for the wheels is PT904-52083.

Awesome - that was the rim I had seen. I'll ask the dealer to order this for me when I place my xD order.

May I ask what the dealer charged you?

Thank you,
Tim

Thats strange. I work at Toyota/Scion of Bellevue as the primary accessory specialist and we list those wheels for $696 for the set.

This is the canned response from emailing Scion.com regarding the 16" wheels:

"We do sincerely apologize as currently we have not yet announced any plans to offer a 16" alloy wheel for the 2008 xD. We are well aware of the consumer interest in this type of accessory, and here at Scion, our mission is to satisfy a trend setting youthful buyer through distinctive products and an innovative, consumer-driven process."

It's the exact same text as from this thread about fog lights (obviously with [insert item description] changed): https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=187303

One hand has no idea what the other hand does. Here is a pic of one of the cars on South East Toyota dealer inventory site:

Oh, and the accessory code from the car's window sticker:

16" BMBT Enkei Alloy Wheels-YW10 $725

Might be an SET-only thing, though.

Those same rims are being offered in DFW. Scion of Dallas has them at $795, and the Scion in Duncunville I believe it is Metro Scion told me they would do that option at $695. I believe Toyota lists it at $795.

I just got an email from my sales consultant, looks like they are on back order with no ETA. Hmmm....Guess I'll keep waiting as I already paid for them.

Ok, this is making me ill. I have already paid for these wheels in my original invoice from the dealership. They have now told me that they will not be made available in the near future. So to see this picture is very frustrating.

That car looks so much better than the one I picked up from them last night with plastic covers.

They are offering me a refund. I may end up with aftermarket.

How can they not have any communication? Someone must have an answer further up the chain, right?

Why am I this frustrated when I only bought the car three days ago?

Get tC 17s and make the dealer swap in the TPMS sensors for free. You should easily get the wheels and tires for $600 and you will have the old steelies to sell.
