I bought my Xd in Colorado in january 08 with 12 miles on it and by january 11 i had 170,000 miles, just now ran into my very first problem with it, have to replace the water pump (i think) anyone else love driving their xd to the max

Would hate to see how much you spend on gas per year! Good to know that these cars last a long time.

Wow, that's good to know...I have 36K after 3 years of ownership and still have never had an issue...

 

Damn I'm at 92k and been thru one motor already smh lol

 

I bought my 09 with 50k on it back in May and no problems so far.

 

Seriously? WTF happened to the first motor?

 

Apparently had no oil but it was covered under warranty so it's all good!

 

Yea they tend to need oil to run Ok good to know that it wasn't something else...

 

Lol but my light didn't turn on That was the weird part

 

I wouldn't depend on those oil lights on the cars. They are there to help make your life a little easier but I still check my oil levels the old fashioned way at least once a month. I knew someone like you who depended on the oil light for everything and never popped the hood and the same thing happened...... the light never came on and blew a motor.

 

But I was just hitting the 5k mark for the oil change which is recommended by Toyota so I figured it would be alright

 

The oil light in our xD is not meant to come on when the oil is low...If your oil light comes on it's already too late...Atleast that's what I have been told...

 

The idiot light for the oil is for oil pressure.. If the light comes on, it means the pressure is too low because of oil level or oil pump failure..

 

A new engine should not be burning that much oil anyway. I might check my oil level once between changes and that is it.
