Anyone know expected xD trade-in values?
I always thought Minis were cool, too... but I'm glad a friend of mine bought one first. She has had all sorts of problems with it. She has added up all the time it has been in for service, and it is pretty scary (I can't remember how many weeks it was). That's not even counting the work we've done on it in my garage. The interior is pretty cheap, too... lots of stuff has broken on hers. Certain parts are actually lower quality than the xD. The interior door handles, for instance, have a sharp ridge where the two halves were molded... it is sharp enough to cut yourself on!
This is my second MINI. I find the build on my 2010 to be superior to my 2003 and the xD. I never had problems with my first one and the new one is amazing. Not a squeak, rattle or buzz even from the deep bass of the harman/kardon stereo. I'm really impressed with it. My first MINI road so hard that everything rattled, even from day 1. This one actually rides softer than the xD and is really quiet on the freeway.
Funny note. I dropped my MINI off today to have a clear mask installed and they have my xD for sale at $20650.00. What a JOKE! Hmmm, a 2 year old xD and they want that much? You can buy new for less. I thought I was getting a deal of $10650 for trade. haha

I'm glad you had better luck with your 2003 Mini than my friend (I think hers is 2003 also). Her mother has one, too... I think it's a 2004. She has had a few problems with that one, too... she just had to replace one of the computers in it.
They are fun to drive, though... I wish you the best of luck with yours!
LOL! Back in 2002 I was in the market for a new car. I went to a Toyota dealership and was looking around. I noticed a Prius on the used car side of the dealership and went to check it out. They were selling it for $500 more than a new one. The only difference between the used one and the new one they had on the lot was that the used one had a cassette deck and the new one had a CD player. So, I could have spent $500 more for a used Prius with AM/FM/cassette! Not likely!
As a side note, I decided on a VW Golf TDI. I didn't want to spend that much (about $19,500), but I liked the 50 MPG aspect, as well as being able to run biodiesel (which I did about 90% of the time).

I got curious and checked AutoTrader. They have a 2009 xD with 22,810 miles on it for $18,591. I went on Scion's site and "built" the same car (in 2010 trim) -- 2010 xD, automatic, floor mats, spoiler, mid-grade radio (now Alpine instead of Pioneer), and steelies with hubcaps -- and it comes to $17,259.
So, you can spend $1,332 extra to get one that's used!

I traded a 2007 Mini Cooper S in on my xD. That Cooper had more problems than any other car I ever had. It had every option except the anthracite headliner. Timing chain went bad at 20,000 miles, leaked oil, steering went out, rattles galore. I don't know, guess I didn't want anymore headaches.
