Service
Category
Suspension
Section
Front Suspension Market USA
Applicability
YEAR(S) MODEL(S) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
2008 – 2011 xD
Introduction
Some 2008 – 2011 model year xD vehicles may exhibit a noise from the front area that is heard under acceleration/deceleration, when braking, or when driving over an uneven road surface. New front lower suspension arms, cross member, and No. 2 front lower suspension arm bolts are now
available to address this condition.
Might have take the xD in for this soon. Can't tell if it is the front suspension that is making the noise or if it is the brakes.

To clarify, this is exactly what I sent you, offline, in the PM:
If there’s any question on what caused the noise and whether or not the aftermarket parts contributed to a failure, the best bet is to get the region involved. We can’t authorize anything from our corporate office, so it’s going to require a diagnosis…. By simply having the aftermarket parts, it won’t void any warranty coverage, unless those specific aftermarket parts are what caused a failure. (Just like with any other repair)

I just found out that there are six bolts holding the sub frame to the body. One of the bolts rusted through, found the head on my garage floor. That particular bolt also holds the lower control arm in place, so that would probably be the number two bolt. 2008 Scion xD with 44k miles on it. Waiting for bolts to come in so we can drop the sub frame and replace all the bolts. Interesting.....

Around $600, of which the majority are labor costs to pull the entire sub frame, plus an alignment. The bolts are inexpensive, but on back order. Been waiting a week for parts, and according to parts department, they should all be in by Wed-Fri this week (a two week wait in all).
Did contact Scion Warranty, and it looks as if they will provide some "goodwill" payment to cover some of the costs, got a case number, still waiting back on that. Also filed a complaint with the NHTSA, maybe if enough complaints are filed and if this is an endemic issue, a recall will be initiated. That number two bolt gets a lot of condensation dripping from the AC. My bolt was rusted through enough to break
