Default Dash Vibration, .....continued

I wrote about a dash rattle and dash vibration way back aro when my car was new. These issues have persisted throughout my ownership. I think the tech nailed the one from the AC duct rattling against the inside of the dash top, however the vibration from the dash defroster is such a pain in the AZZ that I cannot let it go.

SCION has actually called me to inform me that I now have a case manager from the customer care center - I had emailed them the link to both long threads on these issues. They told me that they are unaware of any dash rattles/vibrations. I cannot believe this?? Has no one reported this to thier dealer/service?

I'll keep this thread going with updates as to how they handle this, but I would like to know if any of you are still experiencing the noise.

PS not talking about door speaker vibration -

I have had a noise ever since last winter in my dash or cowl area. Sounds like something is hitting the windshield like something loose or broken. Im just too lazy to rip my dash apart. Maybe a winter project.

I'm getting a slight dash rattle, about one week after the door rattle was cured.

I just on the radio; there are so many other noises going on that it hasn't bothered me (at least, not as much the door rattle).

I've got a 2009 with about 6k miles. I've always had a buzzing type noise from mid center dash area at about 20-30mph. At higher speeds, it disappears. If the radio is on, I can't hear the buzz/rattle.

It's annoying if I'm listening for it, but I haven't attempted to fix or report.
The other major noise issue is if you drive with the rear windows down. You get an awful whooping/reverberation noise that feels like it's about explode your eardrums. Needless to say, I don't drive with the rear windows down.

This is coming from the defrost vent on the top of the dash - need to report it or it will never get fixed for future owners
Things like this just bug me- I am still in flux for getting it dealt with.

Well, perhaps you can call scion at 1-866-70scion or NHTSA...I think i have the same problem too and perhaps what if the windshield falls on the cabin due to excess vibration? I know that would probably not happen, but you gotta give those people drama to do something.

Well, let's team up together and call these institutions to try to solve our problem, but first Scion told me to take it to a dealership and if it is still under warranty, it should be "Free" of charge. I still do not know if they will charge me for that or provide me a loaner vehicle, so I will call them and see what will happen and I will let you know, folks.

Toyota has already recognized this rattle issue. There is a service bullitin for it. Bring it to your local dealership and ask them to fix it, they add a felt liner to the dash and it stops the rattle. Oh and Julian_xD the frame of the car will keep your windshield from ever falling in...

Does anybody know the TSB codes for the various issues of the Scion xD? I know that there has been more than one TSB issued for this vehicle and I wanna know the codes so that it facilitates me during my visit to the dealership and to make sure that they do everything since they are a bunch of crooks (HQ Toyota, Miami FL). I WOULD APPRECIATE I.

I have the same dash rattle that you guys are talking about. When I took my xd in for my first 5K free oil change I told them about it. The tech said that it was from the A/C block under the dash and that they would fix it free o charge. It would take about an hour to fix, but I didn't have time then to do it. I'm almost ready for my free 10K oil change...I think I'll schedule them to fix it then...It really is annoying!

I finally took my car to a dealership and the guy said that since the condition cannot be duplicated, there is nothing I can do about it, however, he linked some of the noise to the windshield wiper on the right side of the vehicle...is that true or it's just a lie that they told me in order to buy wipers for my car, which I bought back in april? Anybody took their cars to the stealership yet?

S-SB-0047-08 is the service bulletin that addresses a rattle between the dash and the a-pillar.

Default Saga of dash vibrations/rattles continues.....24K miles now..

Bump.

FINALLY!

The dash was rattling in its usually places (the center, above the lower AC ducting) and the windshiled defroster vent, I sat in the car while the svc manager and another sat with me and CLEARLY heard the noises (vibrations & rattling).

History on this issue has been that it mysteriously wont repeat itself for the techs at the dealer, or so I am told...........

Dealer told me to bring the car in for 2 days to pull the dash. I called and reopened up my case again with SCION Customer Svc.

I'll let you all know what happens so you can relay the fix to your techs.

Monday I drop off the car.

I have the same issues with mine.. I'm afraid the attempted repair will either make it worse.. or they will screw something up trying to fix it..
Sometimes it's better to leave things alone..
