Default Dead Pedal/foot rest

After I test drove the xD, I realized, or so I thought, that there is not a dead pedal on the left side in the driver's seat on the floor. If I recall, there was a hump on the floor, but it was carpeted. My fiance's vibe has a vinyl one, my mustang and even my beater mazda has a vinyl one or a rubber pad.

Did I miss something when test driving? or is there only a dead pedal under the carpet? I'd like to put something over that area so the carpet doesn't wear out.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure the hump has vinyl (or some sort of plastic) on it but I'll have to double-check tomorrow.

Nope, its just carpet on that part. I thought that was sorta crappy with no rubber foot or plate on that area :? I know the tC has an aftermarket aluminum plate with holes and tC etched in to it. Sorta hoping someone with the skill will make us one too

Hmmm.. bummer. Wonder if the tC plate would fit?

Maybe we can get Zeta products to design one since they figured out how to make the armrests that are lacking from the factory?

I hear ya... I always like to have a place to rest my foot and I'm afraid I'm going to wear out the carpet patch!

yeah, that does kinda suck...i have the aftermarket cover on my tc....and i love the way it looks, i'm sure its not too hard to fabricate one yourself though if u cant find one.
here's what the tc one looks like...maybe go w/ something similar??

That looks cool. Of course, I'm not really even concerned with looking cool.. and would rather it just be functional. It looks like there is a plastic rectangle wedge underneath. Did the wedge come in the car? or is it part of the aftermarket?

yeah, the wedge was already there, just the plate goes over top, but if there's a flat bump or something in the xD i'm sure it would still work.

I noticed the same thing on mine, has bugged me since new as that is just going to be a nasty wear spot after 100K miles with a giant hole in the carpet

Well let's see.. I have a couple buddies (and a number of clients) who are machinists. I bet I could get something fab'd up. The only problem is how could you attach it to the hump? Is there something under there you could screw it to? Or would we have to use an adhesive?

If anyone knows how to attach something like this I will talk to a few people...
