Dealer Replaces Scratched Alloy

Dealer Replaces Scratched Alloy
I mentioned in another thread that the tech slightly scratched one of my 16" alloys along the rim when installing/balancing. I was surprised at how easily the service manager said "that's not right- let's replace it for you."
A genuinely positive experience.

I don't know how much luck has to do with it; I didn't go back to them with a chip on my shoulder, and didn't have any expectations. But I don't want to sell the dealer short, either. They really were very nice about it.
For the record, the scratch can't be seen unless you're looking for it- about 6 inches long and 2-3 millemeters wide. But what really bothered me about it is that the coating (?) was peeling there. I've been around the neighborhood to know that is where it may (probably will) corrode...........

You were lucky. Most the time they try and distract you if they F something up. Then you find it later after leaving and they just deny they did it. LOOK VERY CLOSELY when picking your cars up from any service work.

im a toyota tech at faulkner toyota... adn every time i mess something up i do my best to hide it because customers are stupid noobs...
yeah so anyone who thinks a toyota dealer is trying to bend them over like that is an idiot, if toyota were to find out something like this happened and wasnt resolved in the way that Jack Sherman Toyota handled it they would shut down that dealer's service departmnet.
Toyota service departments just are not allowed to "cover things up" and i dont know where people get the idea that we do... maybe other manufacturers treat there customers poorly but Toyota does not. I have seen toyota replace a blown engine under warranty before on a corolla with 20k miles on it eventhhough the owner never changed her oil... thats around 5k dollars parts and labor, they arent gunna let a customer be upset over a 300 dollar wheel
-end rant

I've seen customer cars damaged while not even in for service. They can just be parked in the lot and get backed into by salesmen driving a new unsold car. Then they try and buff out the dent and say it's fixed. I also see Toyota salesmen all the time open doors into other unsold cars and never report it unless someone witnesses it.
If they do damage and manage to get the customer to leave without finding it most Toyota service depts. will try to deny responsibility the next day.
Basically cover your butt buy going over it before and after any service work with a fine tooth comb.
