Exclamation Factory Stereo question... and other questions...

Well I just got my car back from the dealer because they had to rebuild the third gear because it was making some horrific sound when i was shifting to it, all covered by the warranty ...

Anyways, The car came back like new thankfully but the stereo system seems different. I don't hear as much bass as I used to and almost none at all... I don't know what the heck is going on. I'm thinking that they did something to it but I can't prove anything... The speakers don't sound crackly or blown like a speaker would sound if damaged, there is just no bass at all to it???
YES I have adjusted the bass all the way to 5 and still nothing...

So my question is do you guys think something could of happened at the dealer?

What do you guys think the problem is?

and

I know nothing about car stereo systems... so what can I do to make it better without replacing the stereo?

I am willing to buy some new speakers and an amp and figure out how it all goes. I have seen easy steps to do all that on this forum, well not easy, but things I think I can manage doing.

Did you try going into the SSP menu? There's a car type option in there as well as sound settings like SSP Hear and SSP Feel.

also, holding down the SSP button brings up a menu that lets you pick the car the radio is in. its default is tC but when set to xD, its night/day difference

It's a pretty big button in the center-bottom row too, eh?

Sounds like they disconnected the battery and you lost your
radio settings..

you were correct , my radio was set to tC too. I changed it to xD and shut off the ASL - That was really irritating - I thought my radio was on the fritz

Odd - i've been feeling that the factory stereo sounds "off" in some way... i just can't get it to sound right to my ears. My other vehicles all have their weaknesses, but i can ususlly find a good middle ground.

Regarding this vehicle selection - maybe i'm doing something wrong?

I press SSP - it cycles me through the hear/feel/natural selections.

I press and hold SSP - it brings me to the audio adjustments, bass, treble, ASL, etc.

I continue to press and hold SSP - nothing. I release it and then press and hold again - it exits.

Mine is a '10 if that counts for anything.

Figured it out - was there a radio change for 2010? mine has RCA jacks and sub control. It is this one. http://2.images.zibe.com/sites/stock...6352_6_400.jpg

Anyways - for mine - the power on the radio had to be off. pressing and holding the ssp button would then bring up the proper menu... but only if the radio is already off.. not sure if this was simply a step that i missed in the write up or if its specific to the newer batch of radios.

my choices were tc, xb, and xd (no xa) and switching it to XD definitely helped... it was set to xb in my case. Now, the "feel" option sounds too muddy - best SQ comes on the hear option now (previously - the "feel" option was the only one that sounded halfway decent)

most of those secret menu's are done with the radio off and holding a button down. That is the new pioneer for 2010.

Thanks Guys, Tried it on my 2010 XD and sounds much better. Been meaning to read the manual for the radio but had more important things to do like watch the dust collect in the corner of my house.

FWIW Mine was also set to XB from the factory.
