First mods?
It seems like the first mods for the xD is a spoiler, tint, and new rims/wheels. How much do you guys generally expect to drop on a new car just for the mods? I figure some of you do them yourselves, some have friends who will do it for cheap, etc. To be honest, those are the 3 mods I'd probably make and be satisfied (for the time being) with the xD.
Anyway, it was just a thought.

well the usual for any new car gotta put tint ($300 cause i don't use the cheap stuff always use the ceramic stuff) alarm $4-500 usually the high end ones with 2-way 1 mile remotes, rims ok don't wanna list that very depressing, emblems $25 for the cherry on top. LOL.
Here's a few mods that are fairly cheap that you can do yourself. They are all good bang for the buck though.
Interior plastic painting - Remove panels and paint yourself - Cost - a few cans of spraypaint or $150-200 to get them professionally painted. Labor intensive though. Do the engine cover and fuse box covers whie you are at it.
Short shifter on MT - $150
Ram air kit - Under $200. I paid $50 for a Weapon R Secret weapon on Ebay. I noticed a huge increase in power, some people claim otherwise. Easy to fit yourself.
TRD Exhaust - $366 from Scionpartspeople.com. Easily fitted yourself.
Lowering springs - Aprox $200. - Advise fitting by someone who knows what they are doing, but possible to do yourself.
That should be enough to get you started with the items you mentioned.
After that the world is your oyster with ICE, paint and engine mods etc. The LED swap out by Garage1217 looks like a great job for $89.

First mod, cleaning supplies: about $70
Spoiler can be had cheap off eBay painted and installed by yourself. Tints should be no higher then $300. Rims depend on size and brand. (~$500-3000). I would do suspension before rims, you'll be more satisfied with the results.

When I got my tint and wheels (don't like the spoiler) it was around $1500.
If you're not looking to go crazy with modding your car, or see selling it in the future, I wouldn't make any permanent changes like painting interior plastics or anything in the engine bay.
For looks and sound, your best bang for your buck would to get a TRD exhaust from TRD Sparks (google them) and possibly get a new head unit. The price the dealerships ask for the navi unit from them is absurdly overpriced. For the same price you can get a better unit in your car with more features! That goes with the 18" TRD wheels they offer.
I highly recommend getting a rear anti-sway bar for the xD. It makes a big difference when cornering even at low speeds. Actually that might be the best improvement period

i guess depending on the reasons for mods, practicality, cost, etc.... it should make your decisions. for me practicality is key alarm and tint. hawaii is killer hot having the ac cool the car faster is a + for me. and alarm cause once you start to mod you more reasons for the crack heads and haters to jack your stuff.
lets see..
tint-170(keepin it legal)
alpine speakers-230(stock is subpar)
infinity bass link sub-300(prob to much bass for XD, but easy to move if needed)
tanabe springs-170(install is easy)
faken 18" with nexens-780(ebay ftw)
spoiler-120(ebay again)
cargo cover-175(what a rip, but gotta cover the sub

Thanks for the input! I have been poking around the other mod forums and have gotten some ideas. Some of the stuff people have done is amazing. I am amazed by the LED swap for the ODO. I would love to have something like that done - the original LEDs are a little "blah".
I will probably have to wait on rims. I was looking at some rims/tires at tirerack.com and found a few I liked. I know there are a TON of places to find rims, though.
As for the tinting/audio, etc., I know someone who knows the owner of Big Papas. I guess they would be willing to install whatever mods I wanted so long as they could put a decal on my back window. Sounds like a fair trade.

dont forget to get a bichambered transducer for your coil recepticle. they are cheap and can usually be had for less than $50 bucks.
though, ive usually always done tint, springs, and rims as my first mods. i think you would be happier with springs than a spoiler, but i guess it depends on what you want out of your car. short shifter would be good too.
