Default Foglights on the xD

There appears to be no fog light option. Does anyone know if fog lights are offered, or could be added aftermarket?

Hi - I received this super-informative reply from Toyota regarding fog lights:

We do sincerely apologize as currently we have not yet announced any plans to offer fog lights for the 2008 xD. We are well aware of the consumer interest in this type of accessory, and here at Scion, our mission is to satisfy a trend setting youthful buyer through distinctive products and an innovative, consumer-driven process.

Not sure that this sounds like soon to me. Would gladly buy one third-party.

Tim

that sounds like garbage. that means whoever typed it has no idea, but is covering both ends to be safe.

The 5axis model had LED fogs... hopefully they'll offer them through optomize along with the ground effects.

Thanks everyone. I got stuck having to make a decision about the lease on my 04 xB, and ended up purchasing the car I was leasing rather than wait for the xD to have the options I wanted.

Of all the things I need on a car, I use the foglights all the time when I'm heading to the mountains in the winter. I was really looking forward to the xD, generally liked the test drive and am bummed that the options I need weren't all there. No doubt the lights will be there in the future and I can make a trade-in decision then.

Had a third-party auto shop install foglights yesterday actually (at the Scion-dealer's expense)- because the salesman promised to throw fogs in for free when we purchased the xD a few weeks ago. We called him on it after picking up the car last Thursday and noticed NO FOGLIGHTS! Well, kudos to him for honoring his word(Star Scion of Bayside)...I actually thought these were an option! Anyhoo, it's my girlfriends car and am just happy this was resolved- will post pics soon- it's a good install job actually (Crown Auto in Flushing)

Whoa, that's awesome. I live in Brooklyn and can do this. What kind of foglights did you get? Appreciate any info as I haven't signed the purchase agreement yet.

Thanks,
Tim

Honestly, I don't know and just discovered now that they're not even an option. I thought I saw them as one, but it was my GF who "put the car together" and economy was her primary interest- and when she told me that our dealer (who we bought an '06 Matrix xR from last summer) told her that he would throw foglight in for free then I assumed he just wouldn't charge for that option. Now it makes sense! I thought it was a bit strange when we had to take the car to Crown to have them install 'em! Plus, the guy said,"...almost like stock..." - I thought he didn't know what he was talking about...whoops! You could try calling them and I'll post some pics ASAP (@ work right now)

I wouldn't let something as minor as foglights make your decision of what car to drive, because there are tons of aftermarket options out there. I don't like aftermarket sunroofs or cruise control, but foglights are tough to screw up - mount the lights, run power to them, and mount the switch in a blank panel somewhere on the dash. It's something a local stereo shop SHOULD be able to do for like 50 bucks.

Check out http://www.5axismodels.net/ for their LED kit... waiting to hear from them if it will be a production item.

Really? Fogs lights must be added on by the dealerships then because Scion doesn't have fog lights as an option for the xD-- and there really are no plans at this point to have fog lights from Scion--its not mentioned anywhere (public or internal) as being an option or a "possible" option, or an option that will be available in the future.

yeah pretty much it's a "SPECIAL" option you pay for with the scion manager they basically wire an xa or xb fog wiring to the xd for almost $300 buck labor included but this way it's under the longest warranty coverage period. you can also just buy the wiring kit and do it yourself for $200 bucks. but then for that matter you might aswell just buy any one for $60 at any other shop.....:-(
