Gearshift Installation Problem
I have a black and silver TRD shift **** for my 09 Scion XD and I'm trying to put it back together after it somehow got unscrewed.
It looks very similar to the shift **** pictured in the middle inside the Toyota Scion Accessories catalog on page 4.
Anyway, I got in my car one day and noticed that the bottom silver part of the shift **** got unscrewed but that was easy to fix. However, the part I'm having trouble with is that the cap with the scion logo on it won't snap back on.
Underneath the cap is a nut that screws on between the shift **** and the metal stick/rod. I've tried to adjust the nut's placement so that I can fit the cap back on. However, no matter what I do, the cap won't pop back in because the top of the metal stick/ rod is slightly sticking out enough to prevent the cap from snapping back on to the top of the gearshift ****.
For the record, when I noticed when the shift **** got unscrewed, the nut inbetween the shift **** and the metal stick/rod was still screwed on all the way down. However, when I try to put it back on the same way as it originaly was on, it just won't work.
Any ideas on how to fix this ?

I managed to fix the problem.
For some reason, it didn't work yesterday, but today I was able to simply adjust the shift **** and lower the rod down enough for the nut to screw on and snap the scion logo cap back on top.
Problem solved.
