Default Was gonna buy a honda fit but...

I was gonna buy a honda fit with the cash for clunkers program but then I went to a honda forum and got attacked by all the Honda snobs and pre-teens and fast and furious boys and remembered why i Had One and Never Did Again (HONDA) hah yes i made a funny. Then I saw the scion XD and the price for this car and how much more it has for the price. I am on my way tomorrow to pick up a new scion XD.

We looked at the Fit too.

Overall it's a great car. But she wanted VSC, and in the Fit, the only way to get it was combine it with the $2000 Navigation system. It came as a "package".

So we went with the XD, and glad we did.

Too bad Honda.

Silly Honda people. I don't care for the Fit's styling very much... but it seems like a decent car. Sad that stupid people on a forum had to ruin a potentially good experience for you. My g/f bought an xD just a couple months ago and LOVES it. Course... she traded an 04 Neon for it. A huge upgrade IMO.

Welcome to the Scion world anyway... be sure to read up on the forum rules at the top and use the Search as much as possible. I'm sure you'll be just fine though!

Excellent choice! I did the exact same thing... I went to try the Fit, got pressured by the salesman into buying a Civic for super cheap, and just didn't feel right. Headed to Toyota the next day and fell in love with the xD. Much much better "fit" for me. Congratulations!!!!

Welcome! While we are still a relatively young crowd, I think you will find the maturity levels around here at much higher levels than the Honda boards.

I sold my Integra for that reason.

I was also going to get a Fit but 2 dealers I went to, no one ever got out of there seat or gave me the slightest nod in dealership. Not even the girl at the front desk. Honda is old news anyway now. Their flagship performance car for 2010 is the civic si lol

My brother had a bad experience at a Honda dealership, too... but he went to another place and had a good experience. He bought a Fit, and likes it a lot. He did have to buy the Nav system to get stability control... but it didn't end up being much more than my xD with the base radio and VSC once I added the TRD suspension, alloy wheels, and short shift kit. I think we both spent about $19k. Still, I don't like having to buy packages I don't want... I really like the Scion dealership model.

I looked at the Fit, and admittedly liked it. Once my wife took a test-drive with me, and after installing the child-seat in the back, the car seemed a whole lot more cramped than I would have enjoyed. I did not want VSC/traction control, as I live a warm climate anyhow; 110-128 horses will not allow me to get in too much trouble.

Two local Honda dealers could not match the price I wanted, so eventually the xD was a great alternative at a great price. Honda assumes the market demand is there, so they charge a little more (it really does sell quite well where I live).

Never base your car choice on how much you like a forum: There's fanboys and twits in all sorts of internet message boards, although each board sets the tone via moderation and administrative rules.
