Default How do I install HIDs into an XD?

I bought a cheap HID bulb and put it into 100% stock headlights... since the reflector is there, naturally nothing happens, I just have some super bright white lights.

I found conversion kits, issue is I don't see how they help me get past the damn reflector.

(Also, do you guys think I should just switch back to regular bulbs?)

+1 on this request... having trouble removing the H3 bulb...

There's not much clearance to work with near the headlamp assembly...

Should I remove the whole headlamp assembly, would this make things easier?

No don't remove the entire assembly. After you unplug the lamp pull the rubber seal (looks like the bottom of a plunger). Now you should be able to see the lamp sitting in the assembly. There's a clip that keeps the lamp snug in there, on the driver sides headlight if I remember correctly looking down on it you should be able to see the clip on the left side of the bulb push the clip to the front of the car and then to the bottom of the car. Be careful and remember shimmy don't force.

On the driver side I put my ballast on the fuse box, but some people may not like that :X on the passenger side there's a nice flat spot that fits a ballast perfectly.

DO NOT REMOVE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY! There is a 3rd bolt hidden beneath the bumper, so if you want to remove it you have to remove your whole bumper.

I got the Hi/Lo instead of Bi-Xenon, but I don't think it was worth the price difference. Definitely go for the Bi-Xenon. With the Hi/Lo the halogen high beams are practically as bright as the Xenon lo beams.

hey Nate or anyone who installed the bixenon's HID's (only one bulb but have both high beam and low beam functions)

I am not sure which pin on the factory harness I should connect my low beam and high beam wires from the HID"s to...

Does it blow up the bulb or anything if I have it backwards?

If you take the front bumper off it makes things a whole lot easier in my opinion...Makes hiding the ballasts a piece of cake...I like my things clean and uncluttered...

just installed them this weekend and bixenon came out great!

Only problem is that they are pointed too low into the ground... anyone know how to adjust the vertical height?

There's an adjuster "screw" in the back of the assembly, but it's plastic so be careful not to break it. Make sure to record the height on the wall before you make adjustments so you know how much it's changed. Also be considerate and not point them too high up because you're going to blind the hell out of other people, and catch the attention of cops and get tickets

Nice pics man, BUT I am a little lost where you placed the second ballast...did you place that on top of the coolant tank? did you use to mount it on there? zip tires?

Does anyone have any pictures of their installation with the wires to the headlight so I can get a better idea of where all the wires go?

They're plug and play. If you order a real set, they can't be connected wrong (except for positive/negative to battery). The only other issue you might get is high/low beams. If you aren't getting high beams when you "call" for them with the lever, change the plug around that plugs into your regular headlight to the kit.

Default FAKE Phillips HID kits???

Hi. Do you guys think these kit are fake?

1
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PHILI...item2a0df1473d

2
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PHILI...item43a0505859

planning on getting an HID kit for my XD but i have heard and been warned about bad/generic/low quality/ebay crap HIDs. i do not know what or who to believe anymore so i did my own research and read about German made HIDs. So far ive read about the Phillips and AGT reviews and reviews sounded pretty good. Until when i browsed online to compare prices, i read another review about fake Phillips HID kits. Im still not quite sure about the AGT kits so im trying to still to the Phillips brand since im more familiar with the brand. But when i saw these two ebay listings, it kind of scared me since after reading the "fake Phillips" review.

OR

does anyone recommend a HIGH QUALITY / LOOONG Lasting / HIGH POWER / DURABLE HIDs kits? -Of course anyone that has them and had compare them to other brands? -on the budget also so please help?

thanks in advance. and please NO STUPID ANSWERS. im serious and really need suggestions.
