I have gripes about my xD.
no prob i guess. you are further along than I will be. My focus is my xB as many here know. the xD is the family car.
I have also installed a cone filter and a 100mm extension on the shifter. I didn't like the position with the high seats and shifter on the floor. I had also cut a grill into the front left of the bumper out of the blank panel that was there. I'd like to try a header and larger diameter mid pipe using the OE muffler. Here come the questions as to why....

the dipstick and the front end.
starting with the dipstick. I've owned 10+ toyotas and never once had a problem with any gray areas as to how much oil is in the engine. I bought this scion, and now I have to dip and wipe 30 times just to get a good idea of where it is. I know most of you probably don't do maintenance yourselves, but for those who do, have you had this problem at oil changes? or am I just a slow learner?
my problem with the front end are the BUGS. I spent an hour washing my car the other day. 45 minutes of that was spent scrubbing bugs and their guts off the front of my car. I've lost hope in washing my car anymore, because as soon as I drive it again, I get giant bug guts and bugs all over the place. I should probably look into some special sprays or something.
anybody else share these feelings with me?
any help to rid me of these issues would be most appreciated.

I don't find the dipstick so hard to read.. it's all relative I guess..
The one in the vette is long and the markings are hard to see..
Honda used to have a great dipstick cable that was easy to read and had a great feel.. now its long and thin and hard to see.. I'm sure cheaper to make too..
My son has a new BMW 335i that doesn't even have a dipstick !!! Can you believe it.. It has a sensor that tells you if its low... but no way to check it.. that would drive me crazy..
I change the oil in all my cars and need a dipstick..

I have owned 44 cars in my 42 years of driving... holy **** I'm old !!!
I slowed down a little bit lately since I'm retired now... but I love cars.. All kinds of cars and still plan on getting more..
I just got a 99 BMW M3 which I took over from my son.. He needed a 4-door and bought a 335.. It looks new and runs better than new with some mods..
I might trade in the xD on a Fiat Abrath turbo when they arrive sometime
next year.. will see.. I have a thing for lightweight small cars..
they are the most fun to drive in the real world..
Still car crazy after all these years...

I don't have an issue with the dipstick but the XD is a "rolling wall" as someone else posted.
I use turtlewax bug and tar remover to remove the bugs, it works pretty well. The only thing you can do is keep it waxed, and wash frequently. The longer the bugs are on there, the tougher they are to get off.
