MPG experiment! I was blown out!!
OK I decided to do an experiment because i was spending too much money in gas. I live in san diego, but work in camp pendleton. It is about 45 miles one way so I was doing about 100 miles per day including driving around to get lunch. I said to my self: I'm gonna go 65mph every day for one week. So I refilled the gas tank till the gas pump stopped. It stopped at like $31 so kept pumping till it reached 33. I stopped pumping and got in the car and reset the trip meter and i started my experiment . So I did it and drove 65mph every day for a week staying in the slow lane every time except when I had to overtake really old and slow cars, big cargo trucks, or old folks lol. So at the end of the week when I had to refuel again I checked the trip meter and it said I had gone 308 miles and I pressed the little button to change to the display where I can see how many miles I have left in the tank and it said I still had 56 miles left!!! so I could get 360 miles per tank easily. I was really impressed with the results. I am gonna continue to drive like that. I need to save money BTW my xd is 2008 automatic.

You can get 36+ mpg easy at that mph with a light foot..
FYI... You should not keeping filling the gas tank up when after it clicks off..
At the top of the gas fill pipe, there is a inner pipe that is used to capture vapors.. When you over-fill, you could damage that system..

I make a weekly trip from queen creek to page (330 miles) most of the trip is 6% uphill and downhill grades. Beat the h3ll out of this little engine and the brakes. lol New ceramic pads were put on. anyways my speed is typically 80-85 and can get up to 100mph here and there. with the A/C on it runs at about 34-36 mpg and without it i got a little over 40mpg this last trip. I have a K&N air filter installed and i drilled out the filter box. This is the only mod to the mechanics of the engine.

My xD's lifetime average is just over 35 MPG, but that includes a LOT of towing. I tow a cargo trailer about once a week on average, and I tow a small camper about 6 or 8 times a year. Most of my driving is on the highway, and I don't drive very fast any more. I rarely drive over 65 MPH.
I also have a roof rack on during the warmer months. It does knock down the mileage a bit. I might have a kayak or two up there or a large (20 cubic foot) cargo box. Usually just the Thule Aero roof bars, though.
Towing the camper is the worst. I usually get 23-24 MPG. The cargo trailer all depends on what is in it. I usually get low 30s or upper 20s when I'm towing that one.

yeah thats why i bought the xd. Im always in the highway. really good little carl. I've had it for 3 yrs now and loving it. one thing i need to do later is clean the air filter. I have a weapon r intake. that can maybe improve the mpg a little bit, I haven't cleaned it in a while.

I think I have something around 36k. i got that now because i live in SD, but before I used to live in oceanside, so I didnt have to drive long trips to go to work. It was only 6mile one way to work, now its 45 miles one way to work. I've been accumulating miles like crazy now. I also visit my sis in LA so that like 200 miles round trip.
