MPG experiment! I was blown out!!
i average about 360 miles per tank already, i drive almost exact same as you, almost 100 miles a day. I drive 75 MPH. I use cruise control (BIG HELPER!!!) and i replaced the air filter with the K&N drop in sport one (that alone increased MPG by 2-4). If i let off, i could do 40+ MPG. I did it one time. Went 444.1 miles on 10.8 gallons. Do that math. That was my old xD (2008 auto). Drove from Pittsburgh to Sandusky, OH, and almost made it back (about 60 miles out of Pittsburgh).
My xD now is 2010, has VSD (not sure if the extra electronics takes away MPG average with more running with the engine.) and averages 34 MPG.

No need really.. First off.. modern cars using fuel injection use a MAF which measures incoming air and adds fuel to maintain a proper fuel to air ratio.
If your filter is dirty and slowing the air flow, the MAF will adjust the fuel
accordingly, so you will lose power, not MPG.
The air filters used also have enough "headroom" to compensate for a dirty filter..
Those who modify the intake run the risk of a false reading as the air is channeled thru the MAF a certain way to get a valid reading.
So if you are running too lean, you run the risk of damaging the engine or cats because the EGT's can get too hot... but you might get slightly better mpg.. Car manufacturers want the best MPG and the engineers know a thing or two about making it happen..
