Default MPG on multifunction gauge doesn't reset. Help?

Was fiddling around with the multifunction gauge - trying out some of the changes you folks have mentioned - and now the mpg indicator (cumulative) doesn't reset after a fill up. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Start driving and it will. Or did it not after you left the gas station? Mine does.

That's how it used to behave. Doesn't reset at all now.

Default Multifunction mpg display problems - update

Since nobody seems to have any ideas (not blaming you folks at all!) I took it to the dealer - it's a warranty issue after all.

Seems like they are equally clueless:
a. They didn't have any manuals yet so had to look-up things on line.
b. Tech had to download the Techstream calibration info before he could diagnose the car's electronics.
c. Techstream apparently doesn't provide any access to the mpg function of the multifunction display anyway.
d. Several guys tried various dashboard/key manipulations to no avail.
e. They are stumped! Some of them even thought these displays are supposed to be lifetime!

Said they'd contact Scion about it. Haven't heard back yet but it's only been a few days. Will keep you all updated on this perplexing issue.

If any of you are Toyota techs and has any suggestions I'd be grateful!

Default That simple?

Really?! I tried that but probably didn't hold the button in long enough. Will try again and post result. Still puzzled that it suddenly stopped auto-resetting though...

Thanks!

If it does not work by holding it, go to your dealer to find out why it is not working correctly

Take a breath... Better?

The dealer is contacting Scion as the issue is not addressed in the tech info. Another dealer would face the same problem. I'm reasonably confident it'll work out in the long run. The car runs just fine without a resetting mpg display.

Yeah, definately be patient since the xD is a completely new model for 08, I'm sure the Engine and Car are solid but every now and again stupid small electrical stuff will mess up..

the MPG is not accurate anyway. Just do it the old fashioned way with a calculator at each fill up.

I keep a spreadsheet for accuracy, but: a. It's nice to have a feature work correctly on a brand new car. b. Since the calculated error has been reasonably consistent (about 9-10% optimistic), the display is actually useful in a minor way.
