This is definitely the result of an xD + Neon mating...

Ok seriously i found this just surfin for xD info, and its actually called a Toyota Sienta (only sold in japan).

The page I found it on has a bunch of interesting Japanese models I've never personally seen before, including the japanese predecessor to the xD, the Ractis. From what I'm seeing it looks VERY Honda FITish... roofline, that weird little window in front of the side mirror. You'll also notice the emergence of our xD hood and that "bend" our hood has. You can almost see our "nose" forming too.

I do like how they squeezed a small window where our gigundus C-pillar is (also FITish to me), and it looks like its got the eyes of a Yaris. cool huh?

The first car is indeed the Sienta. It's been around at least 3-4 years. The Ractis is not the predecessor to the xD. It came out about 6 months after the redesigned Vitz (Yaris). The true predecessor would be the ist, and if Toyota hadn't been so keen on killing the xA moniker we might have seen the ist nose on what is now the xD.

 

i get what your saying, in terms of the fact that there were cars called "IST" before there were cars called "xD", however, the IST=xD (for all intents and purposes, lets not split hairs), hence no real true progression or evolution from IST to xD.

But, this Ractis, was on the scene before the IST and xD (i think), and though i cannot personally verify your claim that the Ractis was out pre-Yaris, you do have to admit that the Ractis looks to be stuck somewhere in between a yaris and an IST/xD in terms of its appearance.

 

the ractis was out post-vitz, and was based off of the new (at the time) vitz chassis. subsequently, our xD (iSt) was created based off of the ractis chassis...connect the dots

No worries, the xA didn't exactly take the world by storm. :p The car-buying public didn't know anything about it, either! Since the xA was always Jan to the xB1's Marsha, nobody can really fault you for something minor like forgetting how many doors it has.

The xD's a coupe, too, right?

The problem is that without the xA, Scion does not make a girls car any more... lol!

 

I think we can easily consider the tC a chick car. Lots of girls (at least in so.cal) love em cause they're "cute and sporty"
