Default New xD driver with a question

Hello, I just purchased a used 2008 xD. I love it so far. I do have a question, and I've spent alot of time on Google today trying to find the answer without having to post a newbie post that I'm sure has been answered before. My xD's horn honks when I lock and unlock the door. It honks once for locked and twice for unlocked. It also beeps and the lights flash. Can I get rid of the horn, and just have the beeps and flashing lights? I looked in the owners manual and it just said "contact your scion dealer" to get rid of the beeps and the flashing lights, but doesn't mention the horn. Is that really necessary? Its not something I can do myself? On my old Eclipse I was able to disable the horn from honking when I locked/unlocked the car by pushing the buttons on my keyless entry in a certain order (I don't recall exactly, but something like hold down lock for x seconds, then push unlock). Its not a big deal if I can't get rid of it, but I would like to.

I think that's covered in the security system manual.

i believe thats one of those options the dealer can toggle. whether or not they will do it depends on the helpfulness of the dealership and whether they feel an option is a safety issue, which i don't think anyone would consider the horn beep option.

There was not a security system manual with my car, just the owner's manual. I bought the car used, so its possible it was lost before I purchased the car.

Are you using the Scion's alarm/keyless entry system or are you using an aftermarket one? I just recently bought a 08 xD and my car just beeps and the front end turn signals/side/back turn signals all blink when I lock and unlock with the OEM system. I also have a Viper system installed (which I chose not to use). So based on my experience it can be done, I'm assuming you need to get help to rewire the alarm, or bypass something.

hope that helps!
