No static shock in winter?
Even on cold days my xD has never shocked me with a static charge when exiting the vehicle. Has Scion found a way to ground the vehicle? All of my prior cars had static issues. Worst one was 1995 Saturn SL2. Those polymer body panels were serious static builders. It was so bad my dog would run from me when I returned home!
weather might is a big factor in this, im not sure how virginia is..cause i live in cali haha, but I get shocked quite a bit from my xD.. but the fabric our seats are wrapped in is enough to build up some decent static i think haha
nice comic btw

It is definitely hinged on the weather in your area. Maybe you're wearing different shoes or clothing than what you wore with your previous cars. I've been shocked by my xD but it doesn't happen that often anymore. The reason for that might be because I wear flip flops all the time wear in my previous car I did not.
Geo, like you I haven't noticed any static shocks in my xD. My first thoughts were that the fabric in the seats must not be plush enough to generate as much static. I'm not an expert in this type of science and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
I've never noticed static shocks in my cars with leather seating; however, my Mazda Millenia with "velour" seats just about altered my heart rhythm with a shock when every time I touched the door when climbing out!

My 08 tC has been shocking me like crazy for the past month. And it's not even really that winter-ish here in AZ with the still 95 degree weather. So i gotta say maybe you're just lucky?
i think chels got it on the nose when she mentioned the type of clothes you are wearing. thats really what creates the friction between your body and the seat..as kentuc pointed out, i guess its the weather that amplifies it..
static is definitely going to be worse the dryer the air is. ive gotten shocked quite a bit from my car. the only way to prevent it is to get one of those ground kits that drags a wire on the ground... see a few cars with that every now and then. sometimes i laugh.
yeah, on some days, it is pretty annoying if you are out and about running errands. makes ya nervous when you are getting out of your car at the gas station and it shocks you while you are standing in a small puddle of spilt gas, lol.
lol oh god that sounds frightening...ive never had that experience...nvr want to..kinda like those moments where you see someone who thinks they stepped on a land mine or something..and just have to keep very....very....still...
Remember to discharge yourself when you get out of your car to pump your gas and don't get back in your car while its filling, then back out to remove the nozzle, this is how some people are catching fire at the gas pumps, they get back in their car, then when the pump shuts off, they get out and grab the nozzle, causing a spark and igniting the fumes, just a friendly FYI, continue on...
Static discharge are more frequent in cold dry weather because the lack of humidity prevents the the static charge to dissipate in the air. Use a car ground strap.
