Default Painting

Well I figured out the color theme I want to do on my xD and want to start in the inside first. I'm wanting to do a red color, not sure what color now because candy apply red seems too red for me. I know I'll need paint and sand paper, but what else? Any paint brand suggestions? Looking around for previous DIY tutorials on this and I must suck at searching because I'm not finding any!

Also, maybe it would be better to have a professional do this? No idea Here's a picture of what I'd like to see on the inside.

Also just for fun

There's a DIY. Main thing is patience. Patience, patience, patience. Also, wetsand, wetsand, wetsand.

You're a wierd girl, you know that?
I'm joking, but please, if you must do something like that, have it professionally done. Your new car is no place for you to be learning how to paint. Besides, I'm not sure you'll be at all happy with ANY paint job on plastic.

I've seen it done before, and I've painted before so I'm not a novice Just never tried it on a car before My computer case (custom built it) was painted by myself w/help of the bf (he built it, I watched).

Plus many Scion owners have painted parts in their car before and they don't seem to complain.

Interior painting is fairly easy. It's just a matter of taking your time, rush jobs look like poo.

You have to understand something- I'm old enough to be your dad, so it's hard for me not to act like one.......;->

And I'm still not sure you should be using a clay bar on a new finish.................

I think the color you choose will have to be one that's available in a spray can. There are some shops who have the ability to make spray cans of what ever color you want, if you can find one.

I agree, the candy red is bright, but that's not stopped a lot of people. I've seen banana yellow, bubblegum pink and cotton candy blue also done. Not me. Also, be careful where you apply any shiny paint, it may cause glare.

Personally, I'd go CF-look vinyl and just wrap everything. If it'd be paint, it'd be a deep flat red or a cream and pinstripes. And then clear.

One technique you may want to try is using a lace overlay where you spray thru the lace and it leaves the pattern. A nice silver/gray over black would be nice.

^^Interesting ideas there.

There are online vendors that will make custom rattle cans so that's not a big issue. I don't think glare would be either, as those parts she wants to paint are already glossy from the factory.
