Default VSC off light

Got my 1st maintenance done last night, 5k miles. The 1st one being free of course I took it in to the dealer.

I have an automatic with VSC. This morning when I started her up to go to work I notice that the check engine light is on. Along with it, the VSC light is on and the "VSC off" is also blinking steady.

Just got back from the dealer. Apparently it was a loose gas cap that made the check engine come on (had last filled up in NJ; wish I could pump my own gas everywhere, darn it!)

But here is what I had no clue about: anytime the check engine light is triggered, so is the VSC light. Tech told me one will trigger the other. Can anyone confirm this?

And if this is true-- say another gas station attendant doesn't tighten the cap enough, does this mean the VSC is switched off while the light is on? Seems very inconvenient that a loose gas cap disables the VSC system.

well, it might not be disabling the vsc, it just might be blinking to get your attention.

anyway, you should check your owners manual about stuff like that, see what it says about what it means when the vsc is blinking.
