I paid the MSRP ($15,970 for an automatic). they WILL NOT haggle if it is a reputable dealership...i believe that was the whole basis of scion?

if you're interested, after taxes and tags, it came to about $17,100. this is without any extras.

I've heard that trying to buy a car through any internet sales department in a dealership you might be able to get it for the MSRP. Never tried it myself though, but I've heard it works. Though might be hard to do with Scion with "pure pricing" and all that.

i think the *no haggle* thing is nothing but a marketing gimmick. but for some *reason* its a really successful marketing gimmick.

Most People really paid MSRP !

Im the type of person who never believe in MSRP.

There are actually a few dealerships came back and said that they can work on the numbers. so .... will see what happens.

It's not a gimmick. It's a Corporate policy that dealerships must follow.

So just skip the Scion and get a Toyota. I feel the same way as you. I purchased a couple of Toyotas in the past through the internet sales dept. and paid below invoice price. When I got my xB, I paid MSRP. That's just the way it is.

Just in case you havent read the fine prints. It is still up to Dealership to set their own prices.

I just got a call from one of the dealerships they're willing to do 1K under MSRP if I take the car right now, I dont even have to finance with them.

Well, Im still thinking. Especially with the *maybe recession*, auto companies are having a big fear ... Im gonna wait and see what kind of deals they will have after 1/31.
