Scion xD named one of the most reliable vehicles by consumer reports..

Consumer Reports has released its annual reliability scores for the automotive industry. The 2010 edition reads like the 2009 report... which reads like the 2008 publication, which reminds us of the 2007 version that was similar to the 2006 release. Asia is once again at the head of the class while America has reportedly made great strides and Germany is a mixed bag.
Even with a recent rash of recalls, Toyota (along with Scion and Lexus) is still near near the top of CR's reliability chart. Honda and Acura are also listed as producing highly reliable vehicles, with only the four-cylinder Accord and TSX receiving average ratings. Nissan had a strong showing despite the fact that its Cube, in the first year it has appeared in this report, received a below average score. The Nissan Titan was also hit as being below average. The rest of the lineup however, was rated average or better, including the entire Infiniti model line. Subaru, Hyundai and Kia all had good scores as well, with only Subie's WRX falling below average.
The U.S. automakers made major improvements for 2010. Eighty-three percent of the Chevrolet lineup received scores of average or better. In total, nearly 70 percent of the entire General Motors family is rated at average or better. Ford is the top domestic manufacturer on the list though, with 90 percent of its lineup being given ratings of at least average. That figure is inclusive of the Lincoln brand. It's not all good news in the states unfortunately as none of the Chrysler products were able to receive a rating higher than average.
Reliability for European cars has always been an journey filled with ups and downs. The 2010 reliability scores are no exception. Porsche and Volvo are near the top of the industry while Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi are among the worst. BMW was certainly not helped by its N54 engine, Mercedes has six of 13 models receiving below average ratings and Audi got the same ratings for 75 percent of its lineup. On the flip side, the Porsche Boxster has the highest rated reliability in the entirety of the report.

That is a little misleading. It is not really one of the most reliable. Scion is at the top of the list because of the mean of the reliability of all three models. The xD happens to be the bphighest out of those three. But if you look at where the xD is on the scale, you'll see that it is barely in the red zone. There are seven manufacturer's on the list with higher ranges, and likely there are many models within that higher range. XD could be 50th for all we know, based on that chart. We would have to see an individual ranking of all models to come to a moor accurate conclusion.
I wish my "tank" was more dent resistant, had a better paint job, and didn't come with weird sized rims/tires.
The nasty winds we had come through here last week "gusted" someone's car door into my fender. Hope it hurt their POS more than it did mine.
Got a note from one of the dealers saying they would pay "top dollar" for my '08 xD since it's in high demand, and their used car lot is practically empty. I don't believe I'm going to get much for my D. Last time I went up there the sales person didn't seem interested in talking to me when he found out I owned an xD.

I only financed my car for three years so that I'd have the option of selling it without worrying too much about what I still owed on it. I financed my last car for five years and sold it when it was six years old. I bought that car for about $19,000 and sold it for $7,400. My xD cost more like $18,000... so if I can sell it 14 months from now for $10,000, I'll be in great shape! I am not expecting to get that much, though. Whatever I get will most likely turn into a down payment on a Subaru Outback.
Amen. I cant even run my xD thru the local full service car wash. Their dryer things have rollers on them that touch the paint and scratched the hell out of my roof.
Scratching paint seems to be a big problem with many newer cars, since auto paints have to be low VOC now.
It still seems like people are having trouble reading the graph... Look at the bar for Scion. The xD is their best, so it would be at the right side of that bar. Now look further down and see how many other brands have bars that are further to the right. Those bars represent the whole line of cars for that brand... So any bar further to the right means that at least one, but likely more models are more reliable than the xD.
Having said that, I don't put too much stock in CR.
