Time to move on
I traded in my 2008 XD for a 2010 Prius V. The XD is a great little car and I had a lot of fun with it, but at 54 years old I wanted something with even better fuel economy, less noise, better ride and a bit more tech.
The Prius fit the bill nicely. My 5 speed XD got a solid 30 mpg Calculated (32 indicated). My new Prius (after driving it for 2 weeks and 400 miles) got 45 mpg (47.4 indicated).

Nice! I considered the Prius... but it didn't fit with my 3 year sub $400 payment and towing requirements. I know people tow with the Prius, but the fact that they don't even recommend it is Europe makes me worry.
30 MPG sounds like you are in a lot of traffic, so the Prius should really shine. My driving is mostly highway, so I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the regen very much. I often get 40+ MPG with my xD, if that tells you anything about my commute. I did just get 26.8 MPG, but that was towing a travel trailer! That is the first time in 110 tanks that I have gotten less than 30 MPG in my xD.

I would miss the versatility of the xD. I don't care for hybrids because of the battery packs and the extra cost associated with hybrids. Not too mention that they aren't that "green" when you consider all the toxic materials used in making them and associated manufacturing and energy that are used.
The cost difference between the two would buy a lot of fuel and makes the slower prius not too desirable.. but hey.. to each their own.. Enjoy your car.

Thanks for the replies. I am only leasing it for three years so there should be no extra cost and I am not too concerened about being 'green' except having a bit more of it in my pocket instead of the oil companie's. It is a hatchback and seems to have similar capacity as the XD (boy I carried alot of purchases home in the XD).
The battery pack is actually just a bit larger than a 4x4 piece of wood about 4 feet long (give or take a few inches). Because of this there is a fairly large amount of storage space under the floor of the hatch - much more than the XD.

Enjoy your Prius.. It is one of the better hybrid examples out there..
My friend has a Lexus RX-400 something hybrid. I drove it several times and its a big kludge of crap. It stops and starts every ten feet. You have to go really slow to just be on battery power. I mean parking lot speed slow.. The mileage is terrible and it cost them over $45K..
A good example of just because you could, doesn't mean you should..
It's too big and heavy to be used for a hybrid.. but his wife thinks she is being green.. and paid a small fortune for a sofa on wheels with a battery..
