Default Whats a man to do?

I was recently rear ended on the highway driving to work in my 06 FM TC. Kid two cars back wasnt pay attention to traffic, hit an 08 Yaris...and domino'd into me. Damage is in excess of $8300 and since they deem the car worth 11,400....they say its a total loss.

My problem is that I liked my TC alot...but Im not happy about buying a car that hasnt been re-designed in over 5 years and I cant wait for scion to figure out when they're releasing its replacement. I like the exterior design of the xD but super bummed about driving a car with less hp then I had...and NO SUN ROOF? I know you can do an aftermarket add on...but Im just wondering what peoples thoughts are? How does the ride in the xD compare to the tC? Thoughts and comments welcome...

FYI the only other car ive test driven is the new volvo c30...which is quite nice but also big bucks.

Test drive the xD, it's the only way you'll know for sure.

You could get an older used car and just wait for the new tC to come out. A year with no car payment would help you save up, and insurance would be cheap.

i own both a 08 xd and a 09 tc, and theres not much in common in terms of driving experience. the tc is a fast but cumbersome boat, the xd is a slow go cart. the tc loves the straight aways, the xd excels in the twists with the right mods. the xd is lighter, therefore stops much quicker as well. find an xd owner with some decent mods done to their ride and go for a ride with them. the stock xd has some fierce body roll, but with some df's, a sway bar and a decent set of tires you'll be whipping her through the hairpins like a madman. and sunroofs are extra weight.

Well, what is your budget and what are you looking for in a new car? Have you thought about getting a used car with more perks in it than Scion could ever offer?

I totaled my xD in January but I wasn't sure I wanted the same thing as it has a very short wheel base so the stock ride is pretty bouncy. It is an awesome little car if you do suspension mods to it like cobalt said, but it does lack power which you will probably miss.
