Where is it coming from? It could be the weather stripping on the doors?

It's probably the way the intake vent for the ventilation system is designed, try driving with the circulation mode on?

i have tried turning on the circulation mode but it still make the noises. I'm guessing its either the vent or theres a small opening somewhere

my xD makes alot of noises. how about the noise of the fluid moving thru the A/C system when defog is on? the side mirror whistle? the various dash rattles. the right speaker that randomly fizzles out, but works fine for weeks.

I'm not really sure if I should admit to knowing this, but:

The manual transmission starts to whistle at speeds over 100, and it turns into a scream as you push it past 110. It is really a Yaris transmission, is geared kind of low for the 1.8L engine, and was never designed to be run that hard.

Do you have a manual or auto trans? It's possible the automatic transmission starts complaining a little sooner.

Eh, the only whistling I have in my car is when I step on the accelerator only. It got louder after my accident too.

The only whistling that I get is if I have the radio off and need to keep myself entertained... lol

No really, it could be from the side-view mirror. Thats what causes the whistle on mine at highway speeds.

I wonder how many complaining of a new whistle noise have had the brake recall done recently?

She just started complaining about a whistle noise and I haven't had a chance to check it out.

She says she hears it when on the highway, and it seems to be throttle oriented. I just wonder if the new vacuum vent for the brake recall causes a new whistle.

Davestoaster: My whistle is throttle related but I have yet to go in to the dealer for the brake recall.

my "whistle" was before and after brake recall. and now it's doing same thing on new xd, 75 MPH on fresh air setting, it whistles, on inside circulation, no whistle. i think it's just the air coming in at such a high rate on our intake.

Thanks for the reply.

Then the facts are:

--A lot of people are complaining about a whistling noise.
--It is throttle related, most likely when giving it gas.
--Not related to the brake recall.
--Most of the time heard on the highway.

I'm lost now. I wish I could figure it out, but it most likely will come down to:

"They all do that."

Interesting.

I'll try this one when I get a chance.
