I'll throw out Triwerks and Kustomz Unlimited in the DFW Area (Garland). Met the owners of both at an in house bbq over there a few months back. Awesome guys, do excellent work. Triwerks is pushing an R33 GT-R with over 700whp on stock bottom end, and Kustomz Unlimited has the Jan 09 Truckin' magazine cover article.

define "true Custom" shop... or "REAL CUSTOM" shop..

what are you wanting to do?

cause by a broad definition... every shop that can work on cars.. is a real shop.. not like it's imaginary and/or intangible...

Triwerks/Kustomz Unlimited

The black R33 with gold volks, 700+ hp on stock internals.

the 240 at 2:26 is the project they were working on when I met the guys, LS1 240, was just frame, rollcage, and motor when i saw it. and the titan that Kustomz did.

The blue honda fit at 3:00 is a friend of mine, Marcus, turboed and airbagged

Kinda gives you an idea of their fab work, and work quality

I wanted to know where the true talent was for Custom work across the USA, I live in VA which is on the East Coast...

Remember just because a shop states they are a "Custom Shop" doesn't mean they are truly qualified. Custom work takes great talent and skill...

Just like an artist taking paint to a canvas per say...If you know what I mean...Yes I do know the difference, My car was recently finished and looks good at a distance however when you get up close and personal when looking the car over, you then see the end result's of a Custom Shop nightmare.

So yes I would like to know where all the TRUE and REAL CUSTOMS shops are located across the USA...

not sure if you wanna count FiveAxis as one.. but i can't imagine any other company doing any better... especially when you have actual car companies turning to them for promotional work and other projects.

alot of the experienced shops i've seen are in around the same area. southern california... sadly i don't know of any on the east coast.

now what i was also trying to ask when i meant defining a "custom shop" was also.. what kind of custom work? body work? engine work? suspension? many aspects of a vehicle can be customized and not many shops will specialize in everything.

California is like a candy land for custom work. The east cost truly doesn't have anything to offer for such work, just wanted to know what everyone has experience or encountered and what type of work the shop specializes in.

Here is a brief overview on my project.
Body and paint is what I went after... The following was installed - CF hood, CF fenders,CF hatch and a body kit. My project is an ongoing NIGHTMARE, the paint job is lost due to severe damage and too many paint defects, the front and rear bumper was installed with wood screws and the side skirts were not modified correctly, the car was driven without our knowledge (Extra 1255 miles, the car went in for the project at 748 miles.)

I paid to have the vehicle wet sanded and overall clear coat, I sent the shop e-mails with the stuff I was purchasing for the project which went unread.

Anyone who does custom work should know CF comes from the factory with a special UV coating;if not its truly not worth buying...

I now have a permanent hand print in the center of my VIS terminator hood, finger prints on the side.
F.Y.I - I was trying to stay away from custom engine work due to warranty issues I didn't want to risk.

By the way I will not disclose the name of the custom shop that did my project; I do have a Question that is not related to my post, does anyone know how to go about checking the motor to see if it was red lined?

Have a good one...What do you have to offer for custom shops that are extremely good at what they do regardless of Body, paint or suspension? Sure would like some information, Scion family does any of these places have a WEB SITE??? I like to read and review their portfolio if they have such...THX for your time and help.

Wow, Crazy.... I would drag their name through the mud and back if they did that to my car. Did you end up paying full price or did they at least cut you a deal?
