Default A woman question

Have an automatic 08 XD... every time I get my oil changed they "recommend" changing my transmission fluid... but on the dipstick it says it doesn't need to be changed under normal driving conditions.

Why are they forcing this on me? It doesn't look or smell burnt... yes the color is different than new fluid but I think that's pretty normal.

I should also mention I'm at about 65,000 miles... should I just change it?!

they are trying to milk money off you. i think toyota's automatic tranny fluid is recommend to change at 100,000.
You don't need to change it now.

Depends on how u drive.. If you do lots of city, hills, traffic, short runs..
you should change the tranny fluid every 50K.. Toyota knows the fluid will get you past the warranty and then some.. but low maint is also a selling feature.. If you plan to keep the car, I would change it out about where you are.. It's cheap protection and tranny fluid has a rough life..

If u have the owners manual, there is a maintenance guide that tells you how often to get it changed. The 100K miles applies to the manual transmission only.

My 2009 model has a black dip stick which means lifetime fluid and Toyota does not give an OCI for it. A friend of mine is a mechanic for the local Toyota dealer and even they are not given an OCI for lifetime fluid. I say keep it and then have it changed at 100K that is if you have the lifetime fluid.
