A woman question
Have an automatic 08 XD... every time I get my oil changed they "recommend" changing my transmission fluid... but on the dipstick it says it doesn't need to be changed under normal driving conditions.
Why are they forcing this on me? It doesn't look or smell burnt... yes the color is different than new fluid but I think that's pretty normal.
I should also mention I'm at about 65,000 miles... should I just change it?!

Depends on how u drive.. If you do lots of city, hills, traffic, short runs..
you should change the tranny fluid every 50K.. Toyota knows the fluid will get you past the warranty and then some.. but low maint is also a selling feature.. If you plan to keep the car, I would change it out about where you are.. It's cheap protection and tranny fluid has a rough life..

My 2009 model has a black dip stick which means lifetime fluid and Toyota does not give an OCI for it. A friend of mine is a mechanic for the local Toyota dealer and even they are not given an OCI for lifetime fluid. I say keep it and then have it changed at 100K that is if you have the lifetime fluid.
