Wow, so apparently the first time I googled I had a mistype or something.

Here's a decent answer, but no official scion site for it yet.

http://scionnews.net/2008/02/22/ scroll to the bottom

The xB 5.0 Gold is www.scion.com/rsxb

and the tC 4.0 Titanium is www.scion.com/rstc

Keep us all up to date everyone, even if it's just a rumor (but please don't start any>)

I'd love a Hot Lava xD, but I could't see myself spending $18k on one. The xD just barely hits the "competitive" price point in the segment as it is. Not to mention, the other cars in it's class (Fit, Yaris, Versa) already come in bright colors like red and royal blue.

They should have passed on the body kit and went for rims and a sunroof instead. It would make the $2200 price jump a little more worthwhile.

Still can't wait to see it. Hot Lava is the hottest color in Scion's arsenal.

My dealer told me he's been waiting for Toyota to send him one since March. I'm hoping I can grab one this summer when I'm picking it up.
And I really hope they don't attach VSC to it. I'd rather have an LSD and a lip kit and maybe matching interior pieces like on the RS5 xB

The link posted earlier doesn't work. I just got a release from Scion as to what it will come with.

1. DAMD Body kit
2. TRD lowering springs
3. Formula Specweighted RAZO shift ****
4. Color-tuned rear spoiler
5. Hot Lava interior trim accents
6. Black fabric seats with color-tuned orange highlights
7. Special 16" RS wheel covers
Individually numbered Release Series holographic badge

Only 2,000 will be made and they will start hitting dealerships in June. The RS 1.0 xD will be unveiled at Scion United on May 17th. Hope this helps you out.

Hi The Don,

Isn't my xB Barcelona Red Matallic hot enough for you. It sure draws a lot of lookers while on the road.

Sorry, but no.

Not when they could have used Absolutely Red. But I guess that's only a "special edition" color for Scion, despite the fact you can get it STOCK on an $11k Yaris.

I've heard the RS won't be out till May-June. We'll see. I don't care for the color at all. Hopefully something better will come down the road :?

The lucky few who will be going to Scion United tomorrow and Saturday will be fortunate enough to see the xD RS 1.0. Pics should be up this weekend sometime (crossed fingers!)

Production is supposed to start this month and the car will be on lots in Jun/Jul sometime.

As for the color, if you do some research about the Release Series, the 2004 xB RS 1.0 was also Lava Red. I think it's a bit of tradition to have this brand new model that replaced the old one also have it's 1.0 in Lava Red.

By the way, since there will be no Rear Discs, I've decided to go with the xB 5.0. Sorry y'all, but I still love the xD. I tried fitting my son's car seat in the back, and it is actually too big for the back seat without pushing the front up a little bit.

The press release has just been announced

05/16/2008
May 16, 2008 - Torrance, CA - Scion announced today that the third limited-production Scion for 2008, the xD Release Series 1.0 (xD RS 1.0), will be available at dealer showrooms beginning in June.
The 2008 xD RS 1.0 features Hot Lava exterior paint. This first limited edition xD will turn heads with a DAMD body kit, rear spoiler, Release Series wheel covers and TRD lowering springs. Inside, the xD RS 1.0 will feature Hot Lava accented seats and interior trim, and a RAZO Release Series shift ****. Like all Release Series vehicles, an individually numbered badge completes the uniqueness of this vehicle.

Only 2,000 units of the xD RS 1.0 will be built. The xD RS 1.0 model will carry a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,999 over the base price of the xD. The manual transmission xD carries a base MSRP of $14,550, while the MSRP for the automatic transmission model is $15,350.

The delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee for all Scion models is $620 and is not included in the MSRP. DPH fees for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST) may vary.

What does that even mean?

I like the color. I like the accents and the fact it's goin to come with TRD already. It's really quite a package.

Figure out the pricing (if you PAID someone else to do it for you)

Razo Shift **** (Approx. $75)
TRD Suspension
--Springs ($250 plus installation)
Limited Custom Seat and Door Panel Fabric (At least $500 including labor)
Limited body kit (At least $900 including labor)
Limited Hot Lava Paint on exterior (AT LEAST $1200)
Limited Hot Lava Paint on Interior Trim (at least $500 including labor)
**Spoiler I believe is an Option so I didn't include it.

I think anyone who has paid retail for custom body/interior work will probably say I low-balled some of the paint/fabric.

Total Value = AT LEAST $3425
Actual Cost = $1999

Now, of course some will say:
"But it's not completely custom, they made 2,000 of the same model"
or
"But if one shop did all that work it wouldn't cost that much"
or
"________ (fill in the blank.)"

My point is that the RS have been a big hit across the board.
Scion is unique. Each Scion is a great PLATFORM for starting your customization.
The RS are an even better jumping off point (if you like it). Especially for those who want to keep their warranty and focus on performance and entertainment items. Most of us can do those ourselves piece by piece. But to save up enough $$$ to get all these custom items done at once can take a while.

I was getting quotes to just SPRAY (not even the prep work) in a show-quality shine and it was at least $3000. That was with me prepping, taping, etc. No expensive color or paint.

It's a great deal. Sorry for being so long-winded, but I think it's friggin' awesome that each time an RS comes out half the Scion community gets upset about this or that. All that means is that owning an RS in any model is truly pushing the limits of even the fringe Scion community.

Keep the comments coming...Complaints and Praises for the 1st xD RS.

My bad, I should of explained myself so you didnt have to write all that for no reason. I personally think scions fd up because how are you gonna recycle a color thats supposed to be a limited edition? I have no complaints about the package, i actually like the the xd alot and obviously the color. I thought when you buy a limitited edition it means what your getting is unique. How is the xB rs1.0 suppose to be special if Scion is going to take one of its unique features and use it on another RS model?

That's a really good point I think. I think Scion would have done good to explain themselves as to why they chose this color again. My bet it they are trying to keep the tradition going.

Brand new model (cuz it's not an xA) like the xB was in '04. The xB 1.0 and xD 1.0 owners now have more in common.

They have a Scion first year model production, and the first RS for the model, and now even the color.

By the way, I was going to write all that anyway cuz I think it's a good deal and some people don't.

I love all the different viewpoints. You don't get this kind of discussion on a chevy/honda/other website!! :D
