I cant believe that some of the dealers out west are still getting people to pay markup's on these. The dealers around here get in a few each week and they go out within a few days. I visited 3 dealers and each one was willing to do MSRP on the car. The scary part is people willing to pay a premium ($1,000 or more) to the dealer on these kinds of cars.

I like it more than the xA I had, and it has ton more room inside. The different seat configurations come in handy too. So far its getting better MPG than the xA did. I love the remote entry, alarm, cruise control and other options i missed in the xA.

The xD was prices to challenge the Fit Sport.

xD
Manual ($15,170)
Automatic ($15,970)

Fit sport
Manual Transmission ($15,170)
Automatic Transmission ($15,970)

When comparing the standard features that you get between the two I had to go with the Fit.
No, the Fit Sport is $15,170/$15,970 before destination charge which is $595 making the Fit Sport $15765/$16565.

The xD is $15,170/$15,970 including destination charge.

$595 is nothing.

Add a spoiler to your xD and you've made up the difference.

The Fit S by the way comes with a spoiler + bodykit + alloy wheels + foglights.

Try adding a 5-Axis kit, wing, alloys and fogs to the xD and watch as the price soars past $18k. You still won't get a 5-speed auto with paddle shifters.

I know this is a Scion website so we're biased, but the Fit is a good value, just accept that. The xD simply trades all of those features for 19 more horsepower. It's up to the consumer to decide what they want more. Personally, in this class of vehicle, I don't think 19 horses is enough to seal the deal.

Having to bother with Honda dealer markups was enough to seal the deal for me and I honestly don't care for the spoiler on a hatchback, or the 15" alloys with skinny tires.

OK...

So get the Base Fit. It's more like the xD - no wing, bodykit, foglights or alloys. The difference is, it starts at $13k

The money left over is more than enough to buy 16" steelies.

In my zipcode regular Fit starts at $14945, Fit S at $16265 and that's with some haggling.

Regular Fit = no keyless, no cruise, no MP3, no Aux-in, no 6 speakers, no steering wheel audio controls. All these "no's" for $15K. Yay.

I made the same point about the xD vs. Fit S. The Fit has a lot of things that the xD doesn't, but you quickly passed these things off as useless junk.

Just because YOU think MP3 and 6 speakers are "must haves", but alloys and foglights are not, that's your preference. The bottom line is, the xD does not dominate its competition. There are other cars out there that cost about the same, and offer the same options and accessories.

The xD is nice, but this segment is crowded with quality vehicles, and the xD is in no way the stand-out of the crowd.

Much like the xA, I think the xD might get lost in a sea of similar vehicles with a similar pricetag.

This was a price correction, and nothing more. But you have to butt in and extoll the wonders of the Honda Fit on a Scion xD forum. Are you just trying to ____ people off?

If you feel so strongly about the Fit, why don't you go over to fitfreak.net and trash the xD there.

Don't get so defensive.

FYI, I AM a member of Fitfreak.net. Go take a look. You'll find me. What you won't find is one thread bashing the new xD.

Some people here just act like obsessed fanboys over anything with a Scion badge. SORRY if I choose to act fair and balanced, rather than spew pure love for all things Scion, and bash every car from Honda.

Technically I was using MSRP vs MSRP. The listed MSRP for both vehicles is exactly what I listed.

Honda states - MSRP excluding tax, license, registration, $595.00 destination charge and options. Dealer prices may vary. This is actually the industry standard (scion even has this states this in the "disclaimer" as historically dealer .... )
Scion decided to include the destination fee's ($620) in the MSRP they advertise.

Either way I think it clearly shows which car they were going after.

Around here every dealer i went to had them at MSRP, or just above. I got free wheel locks, and floor mats with mine, as well as the door guards, and pinstripe they wanted to charge for. So you can either look at it as i got it for MSRP or below MSRP if you want to subtract the price of the accessories it came with for free.

Do not get me wrong, I am in now way trying to put down the xD, as I was holding off to trade my xA in for it. But for the price drove me away. I didn't need a faster car (I have one of those), as i commute over 145 miles daily.

I had a few things I wanted in the new car. AC, ABS (i cant believe these are options on any car anymore (looked at the xD, fit sport, versa, rio), key less entry, cruise control, alarm system, alloy wheels, fog lights, more storage room behind the rear seats. I quickly narrowed it down to the xD and fit Sport.

Steering wheel audio controls would have been nice, my GF's car has them. But then again having the cruise controls there is nice too.

So in the end for me, the Fit sport was the best choice.

Edit** i also wanted to add that I got over 110K problem free miles on the xA after almost totaling it 2 months after I got it. Hit a deer and did over 9K in damage as it hit the drivers corner up front, then rolled down the drivers side of the car taking out both doors. The accident was the major reason I didn't want to keep the xA until it died.

In terms of price and interior space, I'll say the xB2 is worth more for the money than the xD.

Changing topic away from the Fit wars...

I sat in a Black xD last night (still had most of the wrapping on it) and here's what I thought:

1. The interior does NOT look like Tupperware. That single comment earlier in this thread really had me worried.

2. The "waterfall" console is much more subtle in person - i.e. it looks much better from the driver's position than a side-on pic that most have posted.

3. Overall it feels like a better quality interior than a Yaris. The seets fit me like an xA.

4. I wouldn't call it roomy, I'd call it comfortable. Perfect for me (take into consideration that I'm not quite 5'5").

5. It looks way cooler than a Versa. This forum got to go look at an 08 Versa for comparison. The smart key and bluetooth are tempting, BUT, I thought it had the nose and butt of a Dodge Caravan, and I'm trying to get out of the minivan segment...

I think I'm getting one!

in response to jonny - the smart key/bt are interesting options on the versa, but they also come with a possibility ot problems. i read a car review on one of nissan's smartkey cars, and the reviewer had an interesting issue at a gas station (the test-drive car was out of gas):

while he and the salesman were inside of the gas station, even though they locked the doors, a man was able to get in the back seat because the guy with the smart key was within the 15-ft range, so the doors unlocked when he pressed the button. while this is probably a unique case, the 15-ft range does bother me. while it may never happen to most people, the chance of being near your car while someone wants to break into it are a possibility.. ill stick with remote door unlocks, personally.

If that story is true, then there was something seriously wrong with that particular car/key. The owner's manual for our Versa says the intelekey has to be within 31" of the door for it to work. From what we've seen that's pretty accurate. There is NO WAY it would work from 15 feet. I tried to make it work from 5 feet (just to see if it would) and it didn't. We've had the car for almost two months now and we love it. The intelekey and the Bluetooth work flawlessly.

Well I have sat in and test drove an xD and I really like them. I also like the xB2 but I don't want something that big for my girl. Considering how roomy it felt to me and that she will be going from an 02 dodge neon to an xD it will be like PIMP MY RIDE to her.

I am a scion enthusiast and will remain one. I drive a tC and can't wait to get my girl a new SW xD.

Hopefully we can find some good wheels and lower it soon. Prolly gonna throw some 15% tint all the way around with a 5% eyebrow. I know this ride has a lot of potential as did the classic xB but it takes time for companies to release stuff.

Instead of arguing points on xD vs Fit how bout we just talk bout what we do like and what we think would be nice on them. I personally wish they would have put 17" wheels on it so I don't have to find some weird tire/wheel combo just to keep the speedo at correct configuration. Just can't wait to see what all comes out for the xD!!! I am thinking it will be the next classic xB.

The sweet part about the xD is that the stock tC wheels will fit so you should be set. You also got a PM coming Bro.

Yeah u can do that but then the radius is smaller meaning the wheel spins faster and it messes up the speedo. I would have to get a taller tire to be close and then it would still be a little off.

Oh well.

Not by much tho. Plus it will have a better gear ratio with the shorter tires for quicker take offs.
