If coilovers are expensive, then buy springs and upgrade shocks later... That or if you really want coilovers, keep an eye on the classifieds.

you will enjoy the springs without upgrading shocks. 15k with out shock upgrade and they still were in good shape before upgrading to coilovers.

Modifying the geometry of the car generally means you want to achieve something you don't currently have. You've told use what you WON'T do: race or crazy.

What is it that you WANT to achieve that you're torn about between the two setups?

depends on the low you want. i got s tech springs which dropped me 2.2 in. im in the process of getting a new wheel setup and i need more low to get rid of the wheel gap so, im gunna be in the market for coils lol. had i known earlier, i would of just went coils to start with. sure they cost more, but youll know you got the best you can possibly have once you do get them on.

will you be in this for the long run? honestly i'd save for the coils. all my other scions i fixed up i always started with springs then after a year or so i end up getting coils. the xd is the first one i went straight to coils. so now if anything i can just adjust the height to where i want. which is usually lower. lol. since you not into racing or stuff like that save up for some airbags.

i agree with katch. coils or nothin. springs are cool, but after you buy springs and a nice shock system, you really arent saving any kind of money and the overall adjustability of an entire assembly is the way to go.

i went straight to coils my my new accord

If you're in the market for a good budget set of coils, hit me up. i sold the ones from my xd recently, and the guy that bought them, and in the 10 days he had them, and installed them, one magically blew up, and he filed a paypal dispute and won. so I'll have a set up for really cheap with one blown strut that you can buy a strut rebuild kit from ksport and fix up, or i'll just have to buy a rebuild kit myself, rebuild it and resell them.

Coilover are good for height adjustment and better handling if you have it at the right height. But too much work. You should start with springs and upgrade shocks later.

if you're going to change the suspension, get it done right the first time.
