Cool Wheel compatibility help- '07 WRX wheels on '08 xD

Hello!

I'm looking to upgrade from the stock steelies on my 2008 xD since the hubcaps are horrid and the tires don't have much life left either.

I found somebody selling a set of 4 OEM wheels off a 2007 WRX
- 5x100 17x7 +55 offset with some 215/45/R17 Continental control contact srs+ tires on them

I'm a total noob to wheels but it's an upgrade I've always wanted to do on one of my Scions.

From my understanding, the xD has a bore size of 54.1mm and the WRX wheels for that year should have a bore size of 56.1mm.

My hypothetical plan (beginner here) would buy to purchase the wheels and get some aluminum
hub rings to adapt from 54.1mm to 56.1mm bore size hub rings to adapt from 54.1mm to 56.1mm bore size
.

Before mounting, I would want to add 5mm wheel spacers too to make up for the offset (+55 compared to +~40). What sort of wheel spacers should I be lookin for? Will bore size play a factor in the spacers I need?

I'm trying to do it on a budget and I've heard there's hub ring + wheel spacer combos out there, but they seem more expensive and I live in PA where thick wheel spacers can cause you too fail state inspection. Would it compromise safety to use both hub rings and spacers, and if so what sort of measurements should I aim for on both?

Thanks a ton

Without going through a bunch of gyrations trying to figure out how well those wheels will work I'd ask why? If you need to invest in hub rings and wheel spacers, especially given that a 5mm spacer still doesn't get you that 'close' to the +40 you're looking for and good quality billet wheel spacers aren't inexpensive, why not just find wheels that actually fit without jumping through all of those 'hoops'. Doesn't sound like your deal on wheels is that much of a deal when you factor in everything else and you still end-up with a sub-optimal solution.

But, your car...you do you.

"Why" is a question worth asking!

I originally got the idea for WRX wheels from this post, though it looks like the user had stock wheels from the previous generation of WRX. That said, the stock wheel specs seem to be identical up until the 2010s or so? The person who posted it mentioned using 5mm wheel spacers.

Billet wheel spacers don't seem too expensive if I'm looking at 5mm or 1/4 Billet wheel spacers don't seem too expensive if I'm looking at 5mm or 1/4" from what I'm seeing.
Nor do the
aluminum hubcentric rings I was eyeing up. aluminum hubcentric rings I was eyeing up.

The WRX wheels themselves are in decent shape (little curb rash but beggars cant be choosers) and they've got Continental Control control Sport SRS+ tires (discount tire exclusive) already on them with about 85% life left. They're by no means amazing tires but they're better than the no-name tires I've got on both rear wheels right now with 3/32" left on them.

I would have a wheel & tire shop check them out for sure, but the guy is asking $375 for all 4. Tacking on a max of $150 for aluminum hub rings + billet spacers + extended lugnuts(?) it's still cheaper in my area than refitting all 4 tires on my current wheels.

I'm not dead set on these wheels, but I think jumping through a few hoops for a much nicer wheel and lightly used tires for around ~$500 is a pretty solid deal.

I'm also actively looking for tC wheels as my primary choice, I just haven't had much luck in my area. They would be the preferred choice but WRX wheels are plentiful whereas a lot of the tCs out there are still on the stock wheels and I'm seeing very few part-out cars.
