Sorry to bump for just that, but I have a vested interest in how this turned out...I'm thinking of replacing my dash speakers and I also have no idea what I'm doing, LOL

AWESOME! Thanks!

Except....um...photobucks sucks and his bandwidth all gone. Crap. I don't suppose anybody has those pics floating around somewhere. :/ I think I can figure it out based on the descriptions, but pics would suuure be nice...anything wiring-related makes me nervous.

I'm definitely going with the Pioneers...I love having first-hand testimony.

Also: LEDS. I WILL DO THIS ALSO.

Also: Meh.

I kept the original Pioneer speakers in. My Polk Audio component speakers drown out everything else. I like keeping the stock look, so no eyes want to veer in and break in my box. The guys used MDF band to hard mount the door speakers and the rear spekers.

OH MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Totally did this. The swap is AMAZING - the dash speakers are now louder than the door speakers. And of course I had to order a sub to balance out the sound... :p

I'm glad you guys posted pics, the hardest part was mounting the blasted things. >_< They vibrated a little at first but now they've settled in.

i think I'm going to try the one-screw-with-electrical-tape method pictured above...right now the speaks are mounted with zip ties. :D I'm trying to decide which, of those two choices, is LESS ghetto ;)

thanks for the assists, everybody :D

Default Which resitors for the Pioneer 4" 2 way from Amazon.com ?

Is the sound good without resistors? Which resistors to buy and where?
The Car Stereo Guys here suggest JL Audio or Alpine Speakers for around $90. They said they would do a simple install for $40 if I brought my speakers. The internet sells these brands and Infinity for $55 to $90 which is ok by me if they sound better. I will have my 2006 Xb for 10 years. Anyone have only 2 high end dash speakers on a stock head unit? Thanks, Jeff

^^LOL! OK!

Skipper-The resistors will help level match the output level/loudness, but does not alter the actual sound. Radio Shack has the resistors.

$40 install is "OK", but you can do it yourself. Basic tools and knowledge. The Pio's posted here will fit...check any of the others for tweeter height so they fit under the grilles!
