What are the best tires for xA 06?

 

Thats a loaded question. I have 18"s on mine and I am fine. You can do 15" to 20" it all depends on what you like.

 

Thank you for the response. I have Bridgestone Potenza re92, p185/60 R 15. It's an 06' with 11,000 miles. The car is a loveable little pipsqueak. Are these tires o.k.? Should I replace them with something else? At the local tire man or at toyota dealer. And the last 'duh' question: How do I check the air in them. I keep them at 34 lbs. The normal tire gauge doesn't seem to read properly.

As you may have guessed I am automotively challenged.

 

on my car i've had the stock eagle ls, replaced them in one month the tread was gone and i had no traction

after that i had sumitomos. pretty good for a cheaper brand of tire.

now i have falken ziex tires, which i found are made by sumitomo, they have really good traction, but the other thing that helped was some suspension mods.

for comfort and gas efficiency get a smaller wheel like a 15" with a larger sidewall tire.

i don't see how your keeping the pressure at 34 if your tire gauge isn't reading properly

 

Ah, I bring it into the dealer and they check. He said the hubcaps have to be taken off and a different type of guage is used? There has to be an easier way. Such a simple task....this is the first site that makes any sense out there.

Those are the same tires my dealer gave me when I got my xA. I've ridden them pretty hard for the last 40K miles and I can already feel them slipping when I take corners pretty hard. They've never given me any problems though and I think I'll get another set in a few months.

If your tire gauge isn't reading properly, get another gauge! I have no idea what the dealer is talking about regarding using a different type of gauge. You don't have those crazy valve-stems with the air pressure sensor in them do you? Honestly any $3 gauge from a gas station or automotive store will give you a pretty accurate reading, no need to spend $20 on a digital pressure gauge or anything like that.

 

Thank you for your reply on the tires. It really was a big help. I don't have anyone to ask around here. I really like my little scion and try to keep it in good shape. I even used the idea of 'painters blue tape' to protect the hood and the side mirrors on a long trip. It worked great, looked a bit wierd, but who cares!

Your tires will be fine and you can run them at 32-33 psi with zero problems. It will actually help increase your MPGs too.

 

Just out of curiosity, anyone on here running Yokohama YK520s? I swung by my local Discount Tire this morning and that was the tire the guy was pushing me to buy...
