Default new wheel problems

hey all, i just got my 15x6.5" wheels mounted, i had them balance it twice and it felt good. But then, oddly, and randomly, the wheels would shake, not the steering wheel though, just the wheels, which makes the car shake, about a minute later it stops, it happenes periodically, i had them retourqe the lugs and it helped for about an hour then it happened again. I cant figure why and the wheel shop deosnt open until monday. anny help?

You DID use the proper hubcentric rings, didn't you? Not just depending on the lugs to center and hold the wheels...

Did you by chance get an alignment when you got the wheels mounted? They might have messed something up, like the tie rod. That could cause it to shake randomly.

....Just a thought.

the left rear tire isnt completely round, so they way it was mounted on the wheel, it made it like an egg, so they took it off and mounted the hi/lows tgether and moved it to the front. seems to be fine now, but havent really driven today, so we shall see.

Ah! Makes sense. The wheels and tires not being perfectly round is fairly common, and mounting them so the high points are opposite will usually take care of the problem.

The wheels/tires on my box were purchased at the same time, and the vendor automatically mounted all of them that way, and they are smooth as glass.

Good luck!

If the tire is "egg-shaped", it needs to be replaced. A tire shop should have told you that cause at my dealership, we would tell you that the tire is no good and we would show you why...

Sounds like you did the right thing...I don't like shakey wheels at any speed...especially when they are new....let us know how it works out for you!

bought the wheels from a vendor here and the tires at discount tires. i just asked around and also, on the net, and they said, maybe i needed hub centric rings. so i gave them a try. looked like it may have done the trick. someone was telling me that sometimes the suspension will make your wheels shake at high speeds. i'm not sure if that's true or not. but it does make sense to some degree.

Feeling like i have been dealing with the same thing as others.

5zigen fnor1c bp
42offset w/ hub rings

after abut a month or two the wheel would seemingly wobble, or "be found with the lip out of round" It would feel like i was riding on a rotation egg. Drivers side left suffered the first symptom, them rear. Replaced both with new 5zigens, and same thing is happening. Put steelies back on and everything is good. The feeling was unsafe, would cause the car to cave in with concern to turns like i had no susp braces at all. On the balencer the wheels would balence out, but on the ground running different story.

after a drive from L.A. i think some of the vibrations have come back. not so much before i put the hub rings on. i'm wondering what it coule be? what else could it be? i torqued down my wheels last night in case maybe one might be loose. they were all pretty tight except for one slightly. but i fixed that. helped a little. (though all in my head i think)
