Default Tanabe xB springs in xA?

My buddy has a set of Tanabe springs from his xB that he is no longer using, will they fit in my xA? I looked it up on the Tanabe wbesite and the part number of the xA ends in 80 while the xB number ends in 81. Is this gonna be a problem???

The only real difference is the spring rate... they'll fit...

Damn Tom, what are you doing awake so early?

tanabe advises against cross installing springs. xa to xb, and vice versa. Really each spring is weighted differently for load, which i am sure you probably know.

What is the danger exactly of doing this ? I am asking because I don't drive like a mad man around corners & things like that. The xB set has a lower drop than the xA & I am looking to go as low as possible without coilovers. But If there is a severe danger & horror stories then I would rather not do it because my daughter rides with me.

Please shed some light for me on this. Thanks

the spring rates are different indeed, search the old df210 thread. Tanabe advises aginst cross swapping springs eventho yes the xb does sit lower on their df210 vs xa's df210's. I would call them up and ask them, but seeing that you are a father like me i would not cross swap simply do to the fact that the springs are not vehicle specific. I ran tien coilovers spec to xb, by mistake because the company i bought from said that" oh its the same sus setup between vehicles", well the spring rates were different, and in that case the tein basic setup for the xb did not lower as much as xa set up does.

You will be fine running those. Only difference is the weight of each vehicle by a few lbs.
They mostly have different part numbers to make people think they are not interchageble. They want to sell more spring sets.
Other companies list the same part number for both so it can't be a big deal.

In regaurds to what was said above though, will the xA sit as low as the xB or will it not drop as much as if I used the DF210's for the xA ?

when running the xb tien basic coilover setup, i did not sit as low as if i would have gotten the xa tien basic setup. (again the spring rates are different, and tien would not sell xa springs to work on xb setup,)

Yeah, I decided to just get the DF's made for the car. I want the xA to look the way it should so I decided to not take any chances.

yea, i hate to talk in circles trying to explain why its not a good idea. The only thing i can say is that again tanabe does not recommend it and tien would not sell xa springs for an xb specific basic coilover setup.
